Where do you see the word chronic? I think it would be a mistake to rule it out.

Please enlighten us, I suggest you do a little research. Acanthomeba can defnitely be chronic.

Staph-bleph usually responds to antibiotic/steroid combinations.

Is it follicular or papillary, and membranous, pseudomembranous or non-membranous? That makes a big difference in terms of treatment. If it is not responding to steroids, you always have to think you have missed an infectious etiology. Chlamydia is a common cause of chronic follicular conjunctivitis. Viral conjunctivitis will typically respond to steroids and then rebound once you taper them. If the patient is a contact lens wearer, they could be allergic to the material, or the solution. Bottom line, more information should be gathered. If you still think it is an inflammatory conjunctivitis, think about GPC, Vernal or Ligneous.
