As a member of AMSA, I received the following email yesterday:
The National Health Service Corps, a program that provides scholarships and loan repayments for health professionals to practices in federally-designated underserved areas will sunset on September 30 of this year. There is a bill in Congress, HR 2915, that will reauthorize the program and DOUBLE the available funding. It will also create a 10% carve out for medical students and young physicians so that for this carve out, MD- and DO-to-be’s will not have to compete with other health professionals.
