I failed to match in em last year. My board scores were horrible(failed step 1 and then passed, failed step 2 and then passed) everything else about my app was solid-good school-good lors-mostly honors in clerkships-test taking problems haunted me-i finally spent the $$$ and got some professional help which i believe has solved(or at least softened) my problem

I was fortunate to get a great prelim position and am working hard-i have great lors from currentl pd and have been doing well. Will having this year under my belt help-or will i still get screened out because of the scores

I'm wondering if I should also apply to IM positions-will this make my commitment to e seem weak?

Applying to IM positions would not hurt you if nobody knows about it. Just do not apply to the same institutions for both.
