I'm assuming you're talking about the Lankenau in Wynnewood, PA... I haven't heard of any other "Lankenaus". If not, just disregard the rest of this post.

My experience with Lankenau is through numerous clinical rotations during my 3rd and 4th years of med school. The hospital itself is really nice, it's in a good neighborhood, and has very nice grounds. It's within good commuting distance of Philadelphia, Manayunk, Conshohocken, and the western Philly suburbs. Free parking.

The program has a lot of DO's in it, which is different from other programs I've seen. Students rotating here are generally from either Jefferson or PCOM (Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine). As of this fall, there still is written orders, although the "word" is that they're planning on switching to computerized order entry for this coming intern class. They do have computerized lab results/imaging/etc. though (ie. they're not TOO out of date). :) Call is generally Q4, long call. They do have a night float system which is new though, who takes admissions from midnight thru 7am. The "on call" physician still is in house to take calls, etc. though. There's intern report once weekly, resident report (for the upper years) daily, and a noon conference (usually with free lunch!) everyday but Friday. Plus all house staff have a diminishing-sum card they can use in the cafeteria. (The food's good.) Everyone seemed to really get along really well. The only negative I can name is that there are a good # of IMG's, which sometimes offers a bit of a language &/or cultural barrier. In general, the attendings are very good at teaching - there's teaching rounds everyday but Friday. From what I understand, they do fairly well in the match - especially with Jefferson, who they have an affiliation with.

That's all I can think of at the moment - let me know if you have any more questions.

Sorry - forgot about "lifestyle". Hours on general medicine is about 7am to 5pm or so. Hours on electives is about 8am to 4pm or so. Not sure about the others. Again, call is Q4, except on electives, where there's no call. Not sure about ICU months.
