Hello,

I was wondering what orgo prep material people have found useful BESIDES THE DESTROYER
I have used destroyer the first time I took the DAT and found it helpful and im going to use it again for my second shot too.
please recommend me the best ORGO material besides the destroyer

thanks in advance

to be honest with you, destroyer really is the best thing out there and not just for orgo. i took orgo a year ago, and i got an A in the class, but when i started studying for the DAT, i found that the stuff that i learned in my class was a little too much to know for the DAT. i mean a textbook is always good to have for references and that goes for any section, not just orgo. so in my opinion, use maybe kaplan for your foundation knowledge, then move on to maybe topscore or achiever, (which i find way to easy compared to destroyer), and then finish of with destroyer. if you feel comfortable with that pace, that you should rock the DAT!

If you know Destroyer Orgo and Orgo RoadMaps from Destroyer....its more than enough...you are in a great shape. If you want more practice, there is also another book which is great-Organic Chemistry Odyssey written by the same person who created Destroyer. It is more detailed and also has practice questions with detailed answers. I have it, i've never knew so much of orgo as of now. If you can do Orgo from Destroyer, other prep material in organic chem will seem like chestnuts.
I didnt have Destroyer when i took my test the first time,....... someone recommended it to me.....i wish i had it before

Is O. Chem 1 or 2 most like the material on the DAT?

1. Destroyer (by far the best since it prepares you well for the DAT)
2. AP Organic Chemistry Book (google it)
3. http://www.chemhelper.com/ (this site is great for basic info if you need practice)
4. Book "Organic Chemistry Made Easy"

I felt it was 50/50 but if you REALLY, REALLY understand Sn1/Sn2/E1/E2 then you essentially understand Ochem 2 and your covered.

i covered those reactions in orgo I. the only part of the DAT that was orgo II according to me was the occasional NMR/IR question.

does orgo I/II vary tremendously from school to school?

What I meant was all the rxns in orgo 2 are more complicated versions of the SN1/SN2 stuff. So if you have a good understanding of SN1/SN2/E1/E2 you should do fine with the orgo 2 stuff.

Hey i agree with the people that recomended the destroyer, It has veery good detailed explanations for Questions that cover all the reactions needed plus the concepts that go along with it. However, if you feel u need more material or extra practice i would recomend you purchase the oddessy.
