Hello everyone,

I'm a new member, but I have been reading the threads for years now. I am trying to compile my rank list, and I can't seem to make up my mind! My top 4 include U of Washington, U of Arizona, SUNY upstate and Stroger Chicago. Any opinions? strengths weaknesses? Call? Quality of education? Resident happiness? My battle has been between selecting a big city vs where I felt I had a great interview vs Quality of school.

i've only seen U Washington, which i liked a lot but is in a lot of flux, so don't rank that highly unless you're ok with going to a place that may be different from when you saw it.
I would say overall you need to not worry about your interview experience unless it was bad because you didn't feel good about them. this list ideally should match where you want to be (not that it makes it much easier). i had a couple not so great interviews but after talking with others, it was the same for everyone. so don't get caught up in the interview personalities, think about where you would get the best training for where you want to be (or vice versa).

there is a lot of truth in what you are saying but i would not underestimate the importance of the personalities or culture of the program. remember that the chairman and program director will set the tone for your entire residency experience. they are people that will be making phone calls and writing letters on your behalf for a good portion of your professional life. if you did not jive with them or had some reservations, you should definitely factor that into your rank list.

Thank You Dr. Sanchez. I pretty much had good interviews at all of these places and could see myself at all of these programs! I never thought it would be this hard to pick a place. Anyone heard anything about Arizona? UWashington vs Arizona?
