i liked both of these programs. the residents all seemed laid back and happy. fellowship matching seemed to be about the same for cards. call schedules seemed to be about the same. i guess the real difference is chicago vs dc. anyone have any opinions of the two?

I interviewed at both programs as well. I definetly agree with what you said about the residents all being happy, and the fellowships being about the same. It looks like the different fellowship programs at both places like to keep many of their own. Both Chicago and DC are neat cities. One negative for Loyola in my opinion is that it is just beyond the trainline, so you do definetly have to drive there in the rain, sleet, and snow. Many residents also dont live in the immediate area, since it's not the greatest. One real positive about Loyola imo is that it really is Midwestern. Everyone is super-nice, family oriented etc... I think the hospitals at loyola and GW are roughly the same size. GW rotates at more places (fairfax), which may be a plus if you want that. Also, the train goes to the front door, which is definetly a plus.
You know, I'm glad you created this post, as I've had a lot of trouble myself trying to decide between the two. In the end, I think it just comes down to gut-instinct.

i dunno if i'd take the L even if was at UIC. my friends at UIC and rush all drive to work. the L is just not that nice and kind of a pain.

depends on where you live. The "L" has a pink line stop right outside the area of UIC and Rush. You're right in saying though that it isn't the nicest of trains

Any thoughts on Loyola's cards program vs UIC and Rush? I know Loyola has a good history of cards programs in Chicago, but its fellowship match seems pretty similar to UIC and Rush's.
