Hey everyone,

I really enjoyed my visit to UMass, much more than I anticipated. Does anyone know of the feasibility of living in or around Boston and commuting to Worcester? I don't think I'm ready to sign up for 3 years in Worcester, but I think I would love living in Boston (I'm a city guy). Is this possible or is the commute brutal? Any advice from residents that have done this or know somebody that does is much appreciated. Thanks and best of luck to everyone.

can be done but be prepared to drive a 50mins to an hour each way without traffic in the morning and evening. winters can take longer when the weather is bad. i know one resident who does it but definately spend a large chunk of the week on the road

I agree with NDSea. It take about an hour WITHOUT traffice, which never happens. Its an hour and half each way and not to mention almost $3.00 toll each way. You don't to live in Worcester.

What you can do is live in one of the Western Suburbs like Newton or Waltham near the Mass turnpike. That way you will have easy access in either direction. Or live close to the train station in Worcester so you can get to Boston easily.
