Im thinking about taking the DAT in December or January after taking the first semester of orgo and cell bio this fall. Any thoughts or feedback on this? Are there things in 2nd semester orgo that you need to know for the DAT? Thanks in advance.

I was able to get a 20 in organic without taking Orgo II. I think orgo I teaches you most of the basics, and then if you're willing to devote some time to learning the reactions of orgo II you can do fine.

Ochem I doesn't have many reactions of carbonyl or amines, or spectroscopy so be aware that you would have to teach yourself that.

if you can somehow take Orgo II before taking the DAT, you will be much better off. It also depends what your school teaches you in Orgo I, My school for example covers all the basics that are on the DAT in second trimester, third is jsut further analysis of what we learned earlier.

I think if you understand OrgoI well, you can memorize all the different rxns from OrgoII w/o taking the class (for DAT purposes).

I also got a 20 with only Orgo I. Just memorize the stuff in Kaplan and you'll be fine.

I got perfect score on Orgo 30 in my first and the last DAT!(science 99.3percentile)

I would say yes!
I believe all guys are aiming at perfect score!

There always seem to be questions in all chapters!! Nobody knows!!

Before the actual DAT test, I was talking about a topic in orgo with my tutor that was not covered in a DAT prep book, but it just appeared!! HAHA! (Upon completion of KAP prep book, I noticed only one big topic is missing!!)

By the way, I stuided a lot for science section (I got "all" A's in pre-requirement courses)!!

Thanks to great staffs at KAP and my professors, I could just solve twice in science sections!!
Ultra speed up to #100--->check those marked ones--> check others plus marked ones!!--->Check marked ones until the end!

In conclusion, there are problems that are not covered in general prep books!!

One interesting question I made is

What is true about star fish?
I. They undergo non-sexual reproduction
II. They are classified as Radiata
III. They have larval stage
IV. They have cartilaginous internal skeleton

a. I
b. I, II, III
c. I, III
d. III, IV
e. all of the above

Just after re-reading of KAP classification section, I could make this questions!
