docdinan3 07-25-2008, 06:38 PM Just a bump because they sent me my first interview invite.:D

sithr 07-27-2008, 09:31 AM if you do not mind me asking, what are your stats? TOURO just received my application today, and I am hoping to hear from them soon
My stats can be seen in my mdapps profile. But in general - 28P, 3.16 science GPA and 3.42 overall GPA.
Interview is 8/19 or 8/21.
Good luck.
webcozmo 07-30-2008, 01:16 AM Good luck to you all. Roger, the director of admissions is great, and the interview day should be pretty laid back and straight forward.
I'll be starting there at Touro-NV this year. Actually only 5 more days left until the first day. Crap! So Soon!
Let me know if you have any specific questions the interview.
Anton Chigurh 07-30-2008, 07:10 PM Wow, time certainly does fly. Congrats to those who have been invited for an interview. If it's your first interview, don't sweat it because it's probably the easiest you'll encounter during the interview season. Roger, as you might already know, is a great guy and will make all of you feel very comfortable on your big day.
rm2908 08-07-2008, 01:43 PM Interview on 8/21.. Not my first invite but it'll be my first interview!!
In Las Vegas, exactly one week BEFORE my 21st birthday! haha:)
sithr 08-07-2008, 01:51 PM congrats on the interview! Looks like I am the only one on the 19th so far..
rm2908 08-07-2008, 02:58 PM i had my choice between the two, but with less than 2 weeks for plane tickets for the 19th, it was way more expensive. i hate such little notice ! ohhh well =)
ph34r 08-11-2008, 10:15 PM I also received an interview to touro - it'll be my first one! I'm definitely excited about it. I've been waiting so long for this moment, and it's finally here. I can't believe it'll be next week - 8/21! I've been reading in the databases for questions they ask in the interview, but does anyone have any advice about it? Thanks!
sithr 08-20-2008, 08:58 AM Just a bump to say hello to the guys I met from the forum at the interview yesterday! And good luck getting that email from Roger next week.

congrats! When you called to schedule did they give you much of a choice on which day you could select for an interview?
rm2908 08-23-2008, 03:16 PM they give you a date to choose from. when i got mine they said aug 19 or 21. i called and said i couldn't be there that soon (it was less than 2 weeks notice--plane tickets!) and they gave me all the september and october dates to choose from. they're accomodating and roger is really nice
soccerchicoc 08-24-2008, 01:10 AM congrats! When you called to schedule did they give you much of a choice on which day you could select for an interview?

MJ2008 08-25-2008, 08:59 AM Does anyone know what touro-nv residencey list looked like? It was opened in 2004, so this is the first year that one should be available. . . I've seen the list for Touro ca, but I'm sure the satelite schools will have a few differences.
Thanks!

soccerchicoc 08-25-2008, 08:16 PM anyone interviewing on 9/22 where are you all staying and anyone thinking about carpooling to the school?
Airlife91 08-27-2008, 03:17 PM I'm scheduled for an interview on 10/2! Very excited about this school and I can't wait to come check it out. I'm already impressed - Roger was great and very nice.
Jack johnson 08-28-2008, 01:38 AM Hey guys, I'm just planning for the interview day. Where's a good hotel or place to stay at which is close to TUCOM? Is there a shuttle or should I just rent a car? thanks
EvryBreathAGft 08-28-2008, 12:49 PM Hey guys, I'm just planning for the interview day. Where's a good hotel or place to stay at which is close to TUCOM? Is there a shuttle or should I just rent a car? thanks.
fiesta henderson is really cheap and about 5 mins about from the school. there's no shuttle, but i dont think you need to rent a car bc everything is pretty close and cabs will cost less than renting a car (unless you are staying for more than one night). i was there last week and everything (ie transportation, staying, getting there on time) went pretty smoothly. pm me if you want details.
good luck on the interview!!!
and good luck to everyone who interviewed last week. tomorrow's the big day!:scared:

sithr 09-20-2008, 10:15 AM hey, how do the group interviews work? im kind of stressin about it because i feel like i wont be able to show them who i am in a large group. any advice?
It's not a group interview. You will be alone with 2 interviewers in a room.
Anton Chigurh 09-20-2008, 03:50 PM hey, how do the group interviews work? im kind of stressin about it because i feel like i wont be able to show them who i am in a large group. any advice?
You're going to introduce yourselves to the group of interviewees for that day, but that's pretty much it. It's not like the group interview like they have in Touro-CA.
soccerchicoc 09-21-2008, 09:58 AM so i interview tomorrow and I am hoping that all goes smoothly..... if anyone else is interviewing let me know
Flushot 09-21-2008, 10:51 AM I interview on Oct 7th. I'm also trying to arrange a stay with a current student, but it's not going too well. Did anyone happen to do this already?

catchburns 09-22-2008, 07:33 PM So a warning to anyone with an MCAT score lower than 23 - TUCOM-Nevada won't even look at it. Somehow though, when I applied and they finally got my scores it slipped through the cracks and I was sent an invite for the secondary. Unfortunately for me this meant that I filled out the entire application and sent in my payment just to get a phone call tonight from the Director of Admissions telling me that they made a mistake. Luckily they haven't deposited the check yet but it sucks going through all that work to not even be considered. Its unfortunate because the rest of my app is impeccable - very high GPA and lots of experience. Roger Corbman was nice enough about it when he called but it still sucks.
Anyways, I know its a low score so I wasn't expecting much love from them anyways, but just thought I'd warn those of you who haven't sent your stuff in yet - look elsewhere if your scores are a bit lower than average.

Yes, the three Touros screen for at least a 23 and a 3.0.
soccerchicoc 09-23-2008, 08:15 PM talk about a stress-free interview.... it was great no pressure and its nice to hear your interviewer say that organic chem isn't the make or break of med school.......good luck to all that interviewed with me hopefully all 11 of us get the acceptance
chromosomeone 09-24-2008, 02:10 PM Does anyone know how much of a deposit is required and within how long of the acceptance? I thought I read 2 weeks..yikes! Is it $1,000?
JamesBond15 09-24-2008, 02:27 PM Does anyone know how much of a deposit is required and within how long of the acceptance? I thought I read 2 weeks..yikes! Is it $1,000?
$2,000 within two weeks. But Roger will work with you if you need a little more time. They refund $1900 of that deposit if you decide to go somewhere else.

Oh wow, I had no idea about the $1900 refund. That's great to hear, just in case. But I am thinking I will like TOURO :) Thanks a lot for you help!
catchburns 09-24-2008, 09:44 PM Yes, the three Touros screen for at least a 23 and a 3.0.
I knew they screened but I thought I barely made the cut because I got secondaries from all 3. Wonder if the other 2 were mistakes too... better check on that before sending money.

That's interesting... it would seem rather strange that all three would make the mistake. But their website says specifically that they screen for 3.0 and 23. Maybe they don't really enforce it?
Flushot 09-24-2008, 10:52 PM Oh wow, I had no idea about the $1900 refund. That's great to hear, just in case. But I am thinking I will like TOURO :) Thanks a lot for you help!
The refund is due to NV law. The other Touro deposits are non-refundable I believe.
About the OP about the cutoff: I'm glad that you can get your secondary fee back, but it's a shame they didn't catch it sooner. I''m guessing the screening is pre-secondary, right? Otherwise, that's kinda lame.
JamesBond15 09-24-2008, 11:10 PM Yes, the screening is pre-secondary.
soccerchicoc 09-29-2008, 08:58 PM I interviewed on 9/22 found out 9/26 that I was accepted good luck to everyone else that interviewed with me

all stock 09-30-2008, 11:00 PM hey everyone, oms 1 here from tun. seems like the average stats for this years class is rising. most of my peers were around 28 and 3.2ish. i was waitlisted and got in, so if you're waitlisted, don't give up hope! =)
good luck everybody, btw the school is underconstruction and we're getting a facelift.
soccerchicoc 10-06-2008, 04:47 PM started a Touro-NV Class of 2013 thread check it out for those recently accepted

Bludiem 10-18-2008, 10:04 PM I got invited for an interview 11/10.
I spoke with someone in admissions and she told me that they had interviewed ~100 people so far and have accepted ~30 of the class of ~125 as of 10/15.

That shouldn't worry you. Its still very early in the season and I'm sure about half of those people already accepted might choose somewhere else.
JelloStapler 10-31-2008, 11:30 AM I just received my interview invite! Vegas in December will be a nice change from the rain in Oregon!
viciouz 11-07-2008, 03:33 PM I just received my second interview invite from Touro-NV (1st was Touro-NY, where the hell is my CA one? lol j/k).
I am excited... but the dates they gave me are for January =/.
I think I'll book the earliest one and stay January 6th at the Palazzo/Venetian resort and enjoy myself while I am in Vegas =P.

That doesn't sound right. They accept 60% post-interview, and waitlist 30%.

Beezbo19 11-14-2008, 02:58 PM I'm interviewing next Monday 11/17. Anybody else? I'm really excited about this school and am hoping for an acceptance!! Good luck to everybody! =)
Question: To those ppl that have already interviewed, did they ask any hardball questions?? Grill you about bad grades (I have a C -->or 2)??
Bludiem 11-14-2008, 07:43 PM That doesn't sound right. They accept 60% post-interview, and waitlist 30%.
I was there on Monday for my interview and the updated # of accepted is "~43-44" so far. I guess they have sent out more acceptances but only "~43-44" have confirmed it.
I liked the school a lot. They have a nice building (on the inside), and all the faculty and staff were wonderful. My interview went pretty good. They asked the usualls like "Why a doc?", "Why a D.O.", and "...Are you sure?" They also asked specifically about my grades. I did poorly in Human Anatomy back in 2002 and then retook it and got an A in 2008. I was interviewed by two of the faculty at the same time lasting 30 mins. They took turns making me squirm. They had both my AACOMAS app. and TUNCOM secondary sitting right in front of them with different parts highlighted.
The students we talked with liked it there and seemed like they honestly could not say anything bad about Touro. They just stressed the importance of picking the right school for yourself and your learning style. BTW Touro only has a lecture pathway.
The Kosher lunch was tasty.

Question: To those ppl that have already interviewed, did they ask any hardball questions?? Grill you about bad grades (I have a C -->or 2)??
Congrats on your interview!
I didn't have anything really difficult and yes, I have a handful of C's on my transcript. They didn't specifically ask me about grades/MCAT but did ask what were my favorite and least favorite classes.
Be prepared to talk about a topic of healthcare - my interviewers asked me a general question (talk about any healthcare topic) but a friend of mine was specifically asked about socialized medicine.
Good luck!!
jpt369 11-17-2008, 08:39 PM bludiem, when you say 43-44 have confirmed does that mean they have comitted to TUCOM?
JamesBond15 11-17-2008, 11:52 PM bludiem, when you say 43-44 have confirmed does that mean they have comitted to TUCOM?
Nobody is truly "committed" because you can withdraw anytime now and get all but $100 of your deposit back.
Bludiem 11-18-2008, 09:17 PM bludiem, when you say 43-44 have confirmed does that mean they have comitted to TUCOM?
I'm pretty sure it means that they have turned in thier acceptance offer and put their $2K down. I don't know what the stats are for how many retract after they get offers from other schools but i've heard it's quite a few.
007 is right that you only loose 100 bucks to skip out on your commitment. Easy come, easy go, eh? I bet Roger loves it.

Boges 11-22-2008, 02:54 PM I'll be there Monday also. Coming from So Cal via Burbank airport on Sunday. I think I'm going to like the school—Lot's of hospital affiliations, good match list from its first class and it's new. Also, We'll be there when the weather is between extremes. So it will probably leave a different impression than visiting when it's 115° F.

I guess it's varied between people. Mine took 2 weeks. It would suck for anyone to lose 2k but it would be too much of a risk for me to wait and see. Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews!

waitwhat 12-02-2008, 06:05 PM Just got an e-mail back from Sasha regarding my status. They say they haven't received my letters but all the professors/D.O. sent it in a while ago. Does it take a while to process the letters?

Also, I doubt that a completed secondary automatically gets you an interview, although it almost seems like it with how quickly they invite applicants after they are complete.
iluvmed&ba6eekh 12-03-2008, 01:12 PM Anyone going to be there for Tuesday the 9th?
I'll be leaving early and partying in vegas, catching up monday, and then interviewing Tuesday!!!!
I'll be there on Tuesday. See you there! :D
Boges 12-05-2008, 03:46 PM Congrats to accepted.
EviLium 12-06-2008, 04:11 AM Do any of the current MSI-MSIV students have any skeletons that they'd like to reveal? Or should I just call Roger? I haven't yet since he's attending something more important at the moment and I'm not sure when he'll be back in.
So far, I've gotten lots of positives (despite the construction on the facade) from my visit to the school during the interview. (I'm also accepted, yay!)
I mean, I found like a mass grave (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=5170187#post5170187) with AZCOM which shook me up a bit, so I'm wondering if there are any surprises here.
I noticed that the campus is also undergoing rapid expansion in terms of programs and stuff. Is it sustainable?
jhysrrn20 12-06-2008, 06:01 AM ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!
THIS IS A MIRACLE!!! I'm sooo happy!! congrats to everyone else who made it!
Good Luck everyone!!
The Clash 12-07-2008, 01:55 AM The interview is totally laid back! I had mine November 25th, got accepted December 5th. But I think the stats above are a little off: they have been interviewing between 500 and 600 applicants a year, and accept about 135, thats a 30% acceptance, but I hear that they generally accept quite a few from the wait list each year. I live in vegas, so it was an easy choice for me. I loved the school, the facilities are new, and the student to cadaver ratio is low. Hope to see some of you guys in the fall! :)
Good Luck to all of you applying/interviewing.
Monkey33304 12-07-2008, 03:59 PM I'll be there on Tuesday. See you there! :D
I'll be there the 9th too.. I'm partying afterward for my 22nd!! :D
waitwhat 12-07-2008, 05:13 PM Waiting to get my interview date! Can't wait......I wonder whats taking so long to process the letters of rec?...
Congrats to those accepted. I hope to join the club soon.
viciouz 12-10-2008, 09:04 PM Hey Monkey, your the girl that was from Flordia?
I was there from Friday to Tuesday... and Way to tired to interview that day that I even left early.
Also, I can't wait to hear about decisions this Friday... thats the fastest I've ever heard of any school accepting students after interviewing.
Crelal 12-10-2008, 11:06 PM Just a note- I was accepted, but will be declining, so I hope that opens up a spot for someone else....
Good luck! :luck:

I was also there on Tues, and I was really pleasantly surprised when they mentioned that to us. I'm still finding it to be a bit of a tough wait until tomorrow afternoon, though, now how sad is that? :o:p
time2go 12-11-2008, 08:43 AM on the secondary application where it says Personal Statement, did you guys write a new personal statement or use the one you already submitted through aacomas. And if you did either have you received an interview yet or admittance. Thanks!

I was there Monday, and I know exactly how you feel. I think that knowing when you are supposed to hear back makes things even worse!
Although I'm glad that it is really soon! Just over 24 hours to go!:D:p

I wrote a different essay, separate from the personal statement I wrote for my AACOMAS application. I interviewed on Tuesday, and I still don't know about the decision yet.
viciouz 12-11-2008, 12:54 PM I too, wrote a separate essay.
Can't wait till tomorrow.

jhysrrn20 12-16-2008, 12:04 PM Hey congrats to all the accepted applicants!
I know TUNCOM has a 2 week turnaround deadline for the deposit. I interviewed Dec 2, found out Dec 5 that I was accepted and I received my letter in the mail on Dec 10. I turned in my deposit via USPS priority mail Dec 10 and I checked on the website for the tracking number and it said that it was delivered on 9AM Dec 12. It is now Dec 16 and Roger Corbman said that he still hasn't received my deposit and I'm starting to freak out because the deadline is about to expire. I called him and he just said to wait until tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone else? I know it's delivered because USPS confirmed it with the tracking number
time2go 12-16-2008, 12:30 PM im sure this may have been asked a million times but how did you guys fill out all the info needed in those little boxes provided on the secondary??? They do not give you enough room
Hellothere2 12-16-2008, 05:00 PM Hey guys,
I'm wondering if the touro schools NV, CA, NY all follow the same teaching style. Are there any major differences between them? I have a NV interview coming up and have already been accepted to CA. I wonder if NV has a stronger program? I'm contemplating if I should just submit the CA deposit and save a trip to NV?!
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys and good luck to you all.
Boges 12-16-2008, 05:40 PM I'm not a student there but did interview at both. I may be wrong but I think they are different. California has implemented a systems based curriculum as of last year while Nevada remains traditional. I can't really comment further. Maybe a current student can elaborate.
all stock 12-21-2008, 04:04 PM NV's class schedule is constantly changing. Classes taught each year are typically in the same time frame, but when they teach material within the class differs slightly.
For example: For anatomy, we did lower and upper limbs in first block. Last year, it was done according to the gray's book, so superficial back and upper limbs, then thorax, abdomen, pelvis, lower limbs, etc...
OMM and physical diagnosis are tailored around anatomy so the material in those classes are altered a little bit as well. This year, we're lengthening neuro to an additional month since there is an unbelieveable amount of information to be covered in 2 months. Unsure what "traditional" vs "system based" curriculum entails, they just give us material, and we just learn it.
Quite a few of my classmates had to decide between CA vs NV. Ultimately, they felt NV was a better school, faculty is much more student focused and it's not located on a marine base.
The only reason CA appeals to me is the fact it's in CA. For those in SoCal, NV is only a 3.5hr drive away.
tphdrum 01-05-2009, 05:44 PM In case anyone else has heard the rumors, a good source tells me that TUCOM NV will in fact be video taping all lectures starting in 2009. This will be a great plus to an already great school!!!
SupraDOc 01-06-2009, 05:51 PM That's great....is attendance still mandatory? 8-10hrs a day studying seems much more feasible if lectures are optional.
Hmm good question. When I interviewed they were talking about shortening the time spent at school per day. Anyone know new news on these issues?
JayhawkDoc 01-08-2009, 12:17 AM Hello all. Just wanted to say I am interviewing here on February 3rd. Anyone want to share if they are attending here next year and what sold you on the program. Thanks!
tphdrum 01-08-2009, 11:43 AM I was sold on Touro NV after I talked to a current student of TUCOM NV; He told me how pleased he was with the professors .You can have great facilities or a desirable location, but really great professors were an absolute must for me. Plus I like the location and the fact I won't have to move all over the country for the clinical years.
waitwhat 01-08-2009, 12:52 PM Anyone interviewing the 29th?!
coffeeeandtea 01-08-2009, 12:55 PM YAY got an interview invite today :) i would have totally gone for the Feb. 3 date, but unfortunately i think i might still have to go to my Touro NY interview that day (unless i hear good news from Western)... so probably Feb. 10... anyone else going for that date too?
JayhawkDoc 01-09-2009, 02:10 AM I got a jury summons yesterday telling me to come in the same day I am flying out to Touro-NV. I called them and got out of it. Not sure what I would have done if they would have required me to come in.
Gracie84 01-09-2009, 04:26 PM Hello Everyone. I applied late to TUCOM NV (like December). I just got the interview invite and the available dates are all in March. I got the email after 5 pm and I will have to wait till Monday to schedule it. I think March is too late. Anyone canceling there interview spot?
Also where should I stay since I will be flying in a day before. I might decide to spend the weekend there but I am not sure yet. Any suggestions are welcome.
Boges 01-09-2009, 04:37 PM Also where should I stay since I will be flying in a day before. I might decide to spend the weekend there but I am not sure yet. Any suggestions are welcome.
Palms Place was awesome. For a car, I rented a Toyota Highlander from Enterprise. It was all very easy and I'd do it again at the same places.
One night at Palms Place was around $150 (includes all the taxes, etc.), and the car was $55.

The professors are pretty cool. Hopefully you'll get interviewed by the biochem professor (her name eludes me now). She was great to talk to, although, if you have research, she'll definitely want to hear all about it, from top to bottom, but that shouldn't be a problem with a little prep.

Thanks that price seems pretty reasonable. I am glad I am going to turn 25 before my interview. So yay I don't have to pay extra anymore for car rentals.
katarina90 01-09-2009, 05:07 PM I haven't applied yet (c/o 2014, hopefully) but I went to the tour today and I was really impressed with them. The professors and the facility, of course, but also the students who all seemed very well-adjusted, articulate, and most importantly, happy. I liked the atmosphere, and their cadaver lab is pretty large (34 cadavers).
I really wanna go there now! I'm excited, hopefully I can get in : )

I thought so too but make sure it's the Palms Place (called Jet Luxury at Palms Place) and not The Palms. The latter is the casino hotel and not as awesome.
Happy birthday and best of luck to you at the interview.
katarina90 01-09-2009, 06:24 PM Are you doing the new 7 yr. B.A./D.O program?
Probably not, my science gpa isn't a 3.5 (though above a 3.0) and I'll be able to finish my BS in Bio before fall 2010 so I'm thinking I'll probably just apply regularly.
mtmedic86 01-10-2009, 01:54 PM Hey everyone! I'm a first-year at Touro-NV and I wanted to congratulate everyone who's interviewing and being accepted! I also wanted to offer to answer any questions anyone has about life here. Feel free to PM me here or send me an IM at mtmedic86. Enjoy your time before med school! It's all over after you get that white coat :)
ringtail 01-10-2009, 02:12 PM Hmm good question. When I interviewed they were talking about shortening the time spent at school per day. Anyone know new news on these issues?
There are several rumors floating about saying that the school would like to lower contact hours. As of right now, it is all still rumors, but video taping should be up and running for 2009. over the break, the school did a big revamp of the A/V stuff in all the lecture halls and classrooms.
On a totally biased and personal note, student life at the school is pretty rockin and though its a big class, we mostly know everybody in the class. there's a lot of interaction and there is something for everyone. student-professor interaction is what you make it. they are always available and are quick to answer emails. our anatomy director, Dr. Roque, is hilarious and totally on the side of the students. We've had practical anatomy exams and if the tag of the structure is poor or difficult to distinguish, he'll throw the question out or give everybody a point for it. I had never taken anatomy before med school and though its ridiculously hard, it's also a really fun, interactive class with kickin professors.
oh and fyi, if you like to golf, you'll love vegas and the cheap off-season green fees.
holla if you peeps got more questions.

Ohh we can e-mail to schedule the interview?!!
In the e-mail attachment it said to call them to schedule, but I guess that means I can e-mail them today and then call tomorrow. Hopefully the Feb. 10 spots haven't filled up yet :\
On another note, it's so hard to keep going after being rejected from one of the schools I had a shot at.. I know I should just keep plowing through but this one really stung :(

All I got was an e-mail telling me dates. Didn't say anything about calling in. I got an outline of the day in my e-mail but does anyone know if they sound out a packet with more information. Like what to bring, directions, where to meet, etc?
coffeeeandtea, you can get 1000 rejections, but you only need one acceptance. Keep your head in there
Gracie84 01-12-2009, 11:46 AM I have an interview on Jan 20 Tuesday and I was wondering if anyone else is also scheduled on that day. I am staying at Palace station (fiesta Henderson) on the 19th and would love to meet up with current students and prospective students.
Also to answer the question posted above. I received an interview invite email stating what the available dates are and that I need to call them to schedule the interview. I spoke with Roger and he scheduled it for me. I was not told of anything that I need to bring. Also an email followed with a confirmation letter.
Interestingly, all Feb spots are filled and only March is available. They had a cancellation and I got that spot.
Till date they have 73 acceptances for 135 spots.
coffeeeandtea 01-12-2009, 01:47 PM March 2nd, anyone?
coffeeeandtea 01-15-2009, 07:08 PM hey again - so i plan on renting a car from McCarren for the few days that i'll be there, do we need parking permits from the school for the interview day?? thanks :)
spartan522 01-16-2009, 08:41 AM so i just got waitlisted, and i remember roger saying they accepted like 80 kids off the waitlist last year...anyone else have any other information about the waitlist?
Gracie84 01-19-2009, 02:01 AM So I am sitting at the airport waiting to fly out for my interview which is tomorrow. It is early morning and I am so excited could not sleep a wink.
Huntertrek23 01-20-2009, 03:28 PM I just cancelled my interview for Feb 2 so if someone has a later interview maybe they can get it rescheduled.. good luck!
kootn 01-29-2009, 10:29 PM Hi!
I was wondering if any of your have interviewed with a Dr. P (her last name is long and difficult to pronounce so everyone calls her "Dr. P")?? She's indian and is fairly young. If you have, can you let me know what type of questions she asks and how she is, i.e. hard, strict, mean, nice, friendly, etc.
Also, did any of you interviewed with Maureen? She's not a professor/Dr. teaching at Touro but just an administrative staff. If you have, please let me know how she was also.
Thanks!!
dangit 01-30-2009, 09:39 AM it's difficult to know what specific people will ask, but you can always look at this for help on preparing for interviews:

ranju 02-16-2009, 06:30 AM hi all, this is my first time posting here so here it goes...im full of questions lol.
my interview is on 2/26 and i just wanted to know if any of u know anything unique about this school compared to others. so basically the answer to the question why TUN. i have an idea of why but i wanted more info on their rotation and research opportunities. so...did they come up with that academic clinic that was supposed to be up and running in 2007. if so how much are students a part of it? do they have rotations in under-served areas and what about the diversity of nevada....Touro cali is very much in a very diverse region and so i was wondering if thats the case with TUN? also like the intro/ shadowing they do to clinical rotation in the secound yr.. i think thats unique in this school nah.. and the viedo lecture are nice addition they thought of. type of teachers, good or bad looking school does not matter to me.. resources, opportunities and support does.
hope some one can answer some of these questions for me... :D
and congrates to all who got accepted.
good luck to all in my seat.. still waitin to know where we will end up!
box29 02-19-2009, 02:55 PM TUN is probably the best of the 3 Touros. Although, I am biased...
curraheeraiders 02-20-2009, 02:27 PM I actually just decided to apply to TUCOM-NV. I was just wondering if people think it's too late even though the accept apps until 3/15.
thriftnuh 02-20-2009, 06:51 PM I actually just decided to apply to TUCOM-NV. I was just wondering if people think it's too late even though the accept apps until 3/15.
This is just a guess, but I don't think it's too late for Touro-NV. The school gives you back 90% of your deposit if you withdraw, and so I'm sure that there are people who have reserved a spot but are waiting for other schools to get back to them. I think there is a lot of movement on the waitlist later on because of this??
gaat99 03-02-2009, 02:46 PM I heard that the wait list is based just on stats, is that true? If its true do they care more about MCAT or GPA? Anyone know how many people they take off the wait list also. Sorry for all the neurotic questions, I interviewed back in January and really wanted to go here but sadly wait list :(
Still hoping for good news come May :xf:.

Touro NV takes around 70 people off the waitlist. The waitlist is ranked high, middle, and low waitlist. If you are high waitlisted you are very likely to get in. They take some people from the middle group. The waitlist is more based on stats. This is what Roger told us on out interview date. I cannot comment on GPA or MCAT being the more important factor. Roger also did say that a letter of intent would go a long way if you were waitlisted. If Touro NV is your first choice I would strongly recommend this option. Hope to see you in August!
coffeeeandtea 03-10-2009, 10:13 AM waitlisted! argh.. :(
don't know if i should keep trying for this school or if i should just keep planning for Touro NY.
on the letter, it also said "I also want to advise you that you will be considered as a candidate for Early Accept to the Class of 2014 should you ultimately not be offered acceptance to the Class of 2013." Is this that stand-by list thing (where they have you on stand-by during the orientation and then if you don't get called, you are automatically accepted to class of 2014) that Roger was talking about?
(sigh) not sure what to do at this point...

Yes. Hang in there!

i have similar stats, so depending on your other activities and experiences, and when you apply, i would say yes....
misswho 03-11-2009, 11:54 AM Hey, Roger (Admissions Director) emailed us a bunch of paperwork/info this morning and said thus far 107 seats of the 135 are filled. That still leaves 28 spots, which to me seems like a lot!
In addition to the first deposit of $2000, another $1000 is due on May 15th--Roger said because of this additional $1000, a lot of people give up their seats on or around 5/15 so the waitlist has a lot of movement around then. Good luck to those still interviewing or on the waitlist! Your chances are still great!! :)
coffeeeandtea 03-11-2009, 08:47 PM letter of intent submitted. here's to hoping! :) :xf:
soccerchicoc 03-12-2009, 02:05 PM anyone else having trouble getting the HEP A vaccine... nowhere in my area offers it for adults unless you are leaving the country
soccerchicoc 03-13-2009, 07:03 PM Have you tried your local health department? Maybe your primary doc can write an RX for you to get it and then you can bring it in to his office and have it administered (if he does not have it on hand). If you are currently enrolled somewhere, your school's student clinic may be able to help you.
already tried both places neither will offer it or can get it for me..... and i graduated last may so no school option either
mrsmith 03-14-2009, 12:54 PM anyone else having trouble getting the HEP A vaccine... nowhere in my area offers it for adults unless you are leaving the country
Have you tried contacting the regional or state Dept of Health? I've had to go to the state level before to get some vaccines when I've had to travel. They might be your best option at this point.
SupraDOc 03-14-2009, 04:01 PM Did Roger email us a list of vaccines/etc we need already for school physicals? I didn't see anything.
box29 03-14-2009, 05:03 PM You can also access the school's online handbook for the requirements but be sure it is up to date with Roger...page 16:

hey supra - yeah Roger attached a document for our immunizations and physical in the first email that was sent on the listserve:
it's called Immunization_Forms Incoming Students 2008.doc

Some doctors specialize in travel, try looking up the doctors in the yellow pages and see if there's an ad for travel docs.
bivvie 03-20-2009, 07:07 PM anyone else told the interview schedule is full and put on the waitlist??
anyone considering canceling their interview?? :D
Redrox 03-23-2009, 10:50 PM Off topic, but cool news for the school and our rep nationwide.
Not only did we host the AMSA Region X (every med school MD/DO west of Colorado) Conference this past fall at the Stratosphere, we were heavily represented in national elections.
Heidi Kemmer was elected Region X Coordinator.
Corey White was elected National LGBTA Director.
Justin Schreiber (the current Region X Coordinator) has been elected NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT!! Wow.
Also, for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians we were chosen as Student Chapter of the Year and Alecia Scott was chosen to be NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT.
Touro Nevada.
Get some.
soccerchicoc 03-31-2009, 09:26 AM other then the listserv is there any place where current students are posting houses and condos and apts? I looked on TUNLive and I can't use the website everything is password protected.
Thanks
Tiffany
gaat99 03-31-2009, 04:08 PM Anyone heard any waitlist updates or anything about how many class slots are open?
tphdrum 04-01-2009, 07:35 PM I got my Hep A and Hep B Vaccines quickly and easily at my neighborhood clinic. They were also available at all Dept. of Health too. Maybe it's a Utah thing... too many of us walking around with hepatitis.
soccerchicoc 04-19-2009, 02:47 PM Any one who currently lives in the area do you recommend any apts in the area?
Marmot147 04-23-2009, 12:53 PM Any late bloomers out there? I am interviewing April 28th wondering if anyone out there will be joining me.
I am stoked to visit the school, my brother-in-law is a first year there and he loves it. Congrats to those already accepted. My fingers are crossed.
Bludiem 05-11-2009, 04:19 AM Anybody else on the wait-list start having trouble sleeping at night yet?
I'm not sure if its from wondering about getting in or from talking to some of my stressed out MS-I friends and coming to terms with how they live.
Fun times.
2hot2doc 05-13-2009, 11:01 AM This is a miserable time. Friday is a big day.
gaat99 05-13-2009, 12:59 PM I hear you guys, at least it's only two more days :luck:.
So will they let us know our waitlist rank on the 15th or is that when they order it and we hear next week, cause that would suck.
Bludiem 05-14-2009, 09:38 AM To be honest with you I bet the May 15 "deadline" is a soft deadline. I've been reading posts from other schools and from past years. Sometimes they started accepting kids off the alternate lists in April and some schools didn't do it until a week or two after the "deadline."
It seems this year that most of the schools have been more tight lipped about waitlists, rankings and specific dates. Just my luck.
I'm expecting to get called eventually, just not tomorrow.
I could be wrong. I hope I am. I've been waiting since the beginning of October.
ZDawg826 05-14-2009, 04:37 PM yeah same here... just waiting for tomorrow to come around. im assuming we wont get the email or call or whatever till later in the day. keeping my fingers crossed.
ucgirl 05-15-2009, 10:55 AM Just wanted to let anyone know who is on the waitlist to give Roger a called directly. He'll tell you your position (hi, med, low).
2hot2doc 05-15-2009, 04:35 PM middle waitlist. Is there anything more uncertain than the middle wait list?
ucgirl 05-15-2009, 10:43 PM Anyone know how long it usually takes to get off the High wait list? Care to share your experiences?
Thanks and good luck to everyone.
millepora 05-18-2009, 08:47 PM It lists off their site, that about 40% of their acceptees come from the funneling schools of the UC system. Does this mean they give California students preference?
The reason I am asking, is because I am a NC resident, and I am trying to weave out some schools that give a lot of in-state or surrounding state preference.
Thanks.

I heard that they just seem to accept a lot of CA students. I'm pretty sure that they arn't given any preferance. Touro is a private school. So many students go there from Cali because it's so close to home.
ucgirl 05-19-2009, 12:41 PM Agreed, it seems which section (hi, med, low) u are on the wait list makes all the difference (according to Roger).
Anyone know what is the final deadline for the accepted students to confirm if they are attending Touro Nevada? It seems then we will know more about movement on the waitlist.

I remember from the interview being told that you had ~2 weeks to give them a yes/no and pay your deposit to make it official. I also was told that May 15th is the day schools can start checking some database to see if your holding more than 1 acceptance. This could be hearsay from someone on a waitlist who is trying to scare those with a choice of schools into making the decision.
I'm hoping for the waitlist to get worked pretty good this year.
ZDawg826 05-21-2009, 12:47 AM According to Roger... about 52 students were accepted off the wait list last year. High wait list is considered top 50 (of about 150-175 total on the wait list). I guess we can all do the math according to these past stats to figure out our chances of getting in off the wait list. hope this helps everyone.
Marmot147 05-23-2009, 07:45 AM Yeah I was told last week that the waitlist consists of around 140-150 students. I just found out im in the top third this week and its stressin me out. I have a friend who was accepted last year like a week before classes started. It sucks to not know if you need to get your application ready again for the next cycle.
Anyone and everyone that hears news from Touro about the waitlist let us know.
Good luck everyone
ucgirl 05-23-2009, 04:31 PM So if you're on the high wl, Roger just call you up whenever there's an opening? It seems so sporatic and uncertain. Sigh.
lakatosjm 05-23-2009, 08:25 PM I emailed Roger this past week and he said I was in the top 1/3rd but to call him. When I called, he said a spot opened up. Now i'm pretty sure I will attend here over Lecom-B. Its a tough call, both schools have a totally different style of curriculum, but I think the lecture based would be easier to deal with. I'm also not a fan of the Bradenton area.
CitySlicker 05-24-2009, 09:40 AM I just got a call from Mr. Corbman last week! I'm in!:D
SupraDOc 05-27-2009, 06:24 PM I emailed Roger this past week and he said I was in the top 1/3rd but to call him. When I called, he said a spot opened up. Yeah, what's wrong with the Bradenton area...besides which the school is in a real up and coming neighborhood, and you are probably closer to Sarasota than Bradenton. Not to mention that you are close to one of the best beaches in the US...Siesta Beach!
CitySlicker 05-27-2009, 10:09 PM Yeah, what's wrong with the Bradenton area...besides which the school is in a real up and coming neighborhood, and you are probably closer to Sarasota than Bradenton. Not to mention that you are close to one of the best beaches in the US...Siesta Beach!
Yea...i doubt that he's gonna be able to go to the beach with pbl and all. sheesh! it sounded BRUTAL!
ucgirl 05-28-2009, 03:02 AM I heard from many people that PBL is more time efficient than traditional lectures.
CitySlicker 05-28-2009, 08:19 AM I heard from many people that PBL is more time efficient than traditional lectures.
Yeah, but I don't like how it's dominating the curriculum like at LECOM. TUNCOM's found a nice balance though.
lakatosjm 06-01-2009, 12:08 PM The Sarasota/Bradenton area may have nice white sandy beaches but everytime I have been there I found the beaches deserted, much in contrast to the Miami beaches where I live. I couldn't see myself staying in that area after school, way too many retirees also. I think PBL works, but I prefer having the lectures notes because that's what i'm used to, the dress code would be a pain too. LECOM also gave me the impression that if I missed 1 lecture or PBL group I would nearly be kicked out of school, a bit strict if you ask me. Both schools do seem to have new innovative ideas so it was a tough decision to make.

Each to his own. I personally think that it is great that there are a variety of learning modules out there so that those know know that they feel more comfortable with one type (i.e. lecture) will less likely to apply to schools of a different type (i.e. PBL).
While I understand the terms "apply broadly," I also think that one needs to apply smartly...while a couple of reach schools is understandable. I am just amazed though how many applicants (probably more so with allopathic applicants) are either applying to way too many reach schools (and their grades/MCAT are not really competitive) or applying to every school they can. This is both foolish and very expensive. I even read one posting where someone got accepted into medical school even though they applied late, but instead of being happy that they were actually accepted, they are looking to give up their acceptance and apply the next cycle for a "better" school. My question is why? Why bother applying to a school that you wouldn't want to attend?
While I definitely have a #1 school (LECOM-B), I would be just as happy if I got in my number #17 school. I'm not going to apply to any school I don't want to go.
Sorry for the rant, but this is an issue that bugs me...there are so many applicants just happy to get one acceptance, and others who don't use common sense when they apply.
BTW, if TUCOM-NV accepts me when I apply in 2010, I would be very happy.
gaat99 06-02-2009, 11:55 AM Anyone heard anything new about movement from the wait list? Have most people from the top third gotten calls already?
2hot2doc 06-04-2009, 11:00 AM Also wondering about the waitlist movement? I have a feeling it is moving slower this year.
gaat99 06-04-2009, 11:36 AM I have the same feeling. Last week I emailed Roger and he said they took 12 people from the wait list. Don't know how many people they called though.
ZDawg826 06-04-2009, 11:11 PM yeah i contacted roger about a couple weeks ago and he said they took 12 people from the wait list. i talked to him again last week and said that nothing's changed since that movement. gonna try him again tomorrow, hopefully its starting to move again... otherwise at this rate, not even the top 1/3 will be getting in.
ucgirl 06-05-2009, 10:35 AM Hey ZDawg, let us know what he says- I def agree it feels so slow, but I never applied before this year.
ZDawg826 06-08-2009, 08:24 AM according to Roger... no movement since last week. so if I put everything together from what I've been told over the last few weeks... there's been no movement since that initial 12 that got taken off the wait list. this wait list is moving incredibly slow!
ZDawg826 06-08-2009, 12:15 PM so i talked to roger a little bit more today... he said that the wait list is moving similar to how it did last year. and last year something like 52 people were taken off the wait list. so i guess thats good to hear!
gaat99 06-08-2009, 12:48 PM Thanks for the update. I wonder if last year 52 people from the waitlist ended up accepting or that they needed to go through 52 people on the list to fill however many empty spots they had.
I'm in the middle third so I'm trying to gauge my chances :luck:.
ucgirl 06-08-2009, 02:47 PM Great news thanks ZDawg
spartan522 06-09-2009, 07:55 AM I'm also in the middle 1/3 and I can't believe how slow this is going. I'm hoping that a lot of people have accepted spots at Touro-NV just as a back up and waiting for a different school. Who knows, maybe it will be more than last year. I talked to Roger last week and he said that there were 142 people on the waitlist, so if the tiers are split up evenly (which i'm not sure that they are), then there would be about 48 people in each tier. I just wish this would move faster. ah.
Also - what about the early acceptance situation from the letter that said we got waitlisted? Anyone know if that's a guaranteed thing or just a possibility?
Marmot147 06-09-2009, 12:16 PM Also - what about the early acceptance situation from the letter that said we got waitlisted? Anyone know if that's a guaranteed thing or just a possibility?
I was told that when it gets to the end of summer they will invite 3 students off the waitlist to attend orientation. If any students drop out they take those spots but if they attend orientation and do not get a spot then they are accepted early for the class of 2014. Now everyone else that is left on the waitlist simply has to reapply.
ucgirl 06-10-2009, 06:31 PM any news on the WL from Roger guys?
jammies1 06-15-2009, 12:55 AM Hi all,
So I don't normally post on SDN but I wanted to give everyone on here a heads up and maybe a little hope. I am declining my acceptance to Touro, so hopefully my spot goes to one of you. Having been in waitlist purgatory myself, I know it is an agonizing process, but don't lose hope and never give up. If this school (or whatever other school) is absolutely your first choice, email or write a letter and tell them! It worked for me. While it's no guarantee that you'll get in, don't underestimate what that letter can do.
Good luck, and keep the faith fellow future doctors! :)
Marmot147 06-15-2009, 09:55 AM Hey thanks alot jammies. Good luck to you out there.
Hey has anyone recieved an updated # of people taken from the WL. Two weeks ago I heard 17 were accepted and they went through 25 to get the 17. I wonder if the movement remains slow but steady throughout the next month and a half. Anyone think there is more movement at the end?
ZDawg826 06-15-2009, 10:48 AM seems like the wait list is starting to move now a bit faster than it was this past month. I contacted Roger today and after weeks of being in the 30-50 range, I'm finally in the top 25!! So hopefully it will keep moving at this rate!
ucgirl 06-15-2009, 05:44 PM Zdawg, do you know how many were taken off or gone through on the wait list? Thanks and congrats to everyone else!
gaat99 06-16-2009, 12:12 PM I emailed Roger again today. He said they have gone through 42 students to move 18 students from the waitlist. Looks like they are almost done with the top third.
ZDawg and ucgirl, were you guys in the top third of the waitlist?
ucgirl 06-17-2009, 01:25 PM yeap and still nothing yet. sigh.
ucgirl 06-18-2009, 07:47 PM who are all these mysterious and fortunate people ahead of me?! :p
ZDawg826 06-19-2009, 06:14 AM yeah seriously... i was in the 30-50 range according to roger when the wait list was ranked May 15th... if they have gone through 40 something already then I should be up soon? Roger definitely did not make me feel that way haha.
Marmot147 06-19-2009, 04:37 PM Zdawg I am in the exact same boat as you. I was told initially i was in the top third but now I am supposedly 20-25 out. I am not sure how that all works with 40 already removed from the list. We should be sittin top 10. Did you say anything to Roger about that?
loungeback 06-19-2009, 07:27 PM hey guys, i'm in the same situation too! what the heck! roger told me i was in the top fifty, then top twenty, but now with these new numbers, I should be in the top 10 now, if they went through 40. I think we need to contact roger to see what's up.
ZDawg826 06-19-2009, 08:10 PM well i wanted to confirm how many people were moved. i emailed him today to ask how many people they've gone through on the wait list so far and where i stand now... he hasn't replied. i will def keep you guys updated once i hear something. IF 40 something were taken off... then we all need to discuss this with Roger.
loungeback 06-21-2009, 01:31 AM i concur, zdawg haha. i'm emailing him monday.
RoseLee 06-21-2009, 11:22 AM Hi guys,
I'm a current soon to be 2nd year at Touro. Just so you all know....what may have happened (as it did with other schools where I interviewed at and was waitlisted for 2012), typically when the class fills before the remaining interview dates (as Touro NV's 2013 class did), there are TWO waitlists. The standard one and the one where IF there was room in the class, the students would have been accepted outright. I'm guessing that the latter was the first waitlist Roger had to go through before starting on the standard one.
From many of my classmate's experiences last year, there was lots of waitlist movement the last part of June and in July (many of my friends got acceptances the week before class started!). Of course every year is different, but remain hopeful! If you guys have any questions, you can private message me.
Best of luck to you all and I hope to see you next year!
Roselee
loungeback 06-21-2009, 11:46 PM thanks roselee, that info was really helpful.
ZDawg826 06-22-2009, 08:25 AM yeah thanks! very helpful! just talked to roger today... i moved into the top 15!i hope i get in by the end of june!!! any wait listers in the same position and looking for a roommate?
Marmot147 06-22-2009, 10:41 AM Thanks for all the info everyone. Its nice to have a better idea of whats going on without having to call Roger myself everyday.
Zdawg I think we are in about the same position so I want to assume I am also top 15. If so I think we have a pretty good chance. Did roger tell you anything else?
pr3ttyinPiNK 06-22-2009, 10:47 AM According to Roger, they have gone through 49 students to get 21 from the waitlist. I am also in the top 15. Hopefully we get that call soon :luck:
ucgirl 06-22-2009, 05:08 PM Does any one else call or email Roger daily/weekly to check on the status of the wait list? I wonder how Roger deals with all of us panicky wanna-be med students!
pr3ttyinPiNK 06-22-2009, 05:23 PM Does any one else call or email Roger daily/weekly to check on the status of the wait list? I wonder how Roger deals with all of us panicky wanna-be med students!
<-- weekly lol
loungeback 06-22-2009, 06:34 PM Weekly here too- I would feel too clingy if i did daily. Not that I don't want daily updates though! Shoot, I wouldn't mind hourly so I can start planning already. Btw, I'm top 15 too guys- good luck to everyone!
ZDawg826 06-23-2009, 08:19 AM Ha ha yea I check in weekly as well... but Im serious anyone on the wait list (top 15) in need of a roommate? Just want to plan now because if we get in, we are going to have very little time before school starts to figure this out.
ucgirl 06-24-2009, 03:13 PM I would be interested in renting a house or condo with three or more people. With the mortgage crisis hitting LV hard, there will be people interested in renting out there houses in order to prevent foreclosure.
ZDawg826 06-25-2009, 11:07 AM Yea that's what I was thinking too... I heard the crisis hit the Vegas/Henderson area pretty hard... There's definitely some good deals out there.
loungeback 06-25-2009, 03:17 PM so, who's going to call/email Roger tomorrow? (raises hand)
ucgirl 06-25-2009, 08:36 PM i am! I talk to Roger more than some of my friends, haha
gaat99 06-26-2009, 11:12 AM Yesterday morning Roger said they went through 53 students to move 23 from the wait list. You top third guys should be getting calls any day now. I'm still hoping for the best from the middle third even though it seems like movement is going a lot slower.
pr3ttyinPiNK 06-26-2009, 01:30 PM i was told by roger this morning that i was in the top 10 but he called me an hour later to tell me that I'M IN!! you guys in the top third should be expecting a call soon!
ZDawg826 06-26-2009, 02:53 PM oh wow congrats!!!
yeah i talked to Roger today... he told me I'm in the top 10 also. I hope I'm up next!
spartan522 06-27-2009, 07:34 AM Does anyone know how many spots are open? or I guess it depends on whether accepted students drop their places, right? I emailed Roger earlier this week and he said that nothing has really changed for me, but I'm still in the middle third. Once he gets through you top third-ers, I'll probably be sitting on the edge of my seat, hoping to get that call. Good luck to everyone!
loungeback 06-27-2009, 02:34 PM Congrats on getting in prettyinpink! For everyone else, hang in there!
Bludiem 06-28-2009, 09:42 PM I'm in the middle third too. Has anyone heard for sure wether 52 people got in off the waitlist last year or wether it took 52 people off the waitlist to fill X (20-30) many spots? From the sounds of how it's going this year maybey ~50 people will get in with twice that many having to be called.
I think that makes us in the middle third feel better.
gaat99 06-29-2009, 04:18 PM I'm also in the middle third and remember hearing that they went through approximately 90 people to get 52 students last year. Not completely sure if that's right but that's what I remember. It seems like the year before last they only needed a little under 40 students to fill the class so I don't know if we can count on them needing >50 again, but I still hope for the best.
Congrats to the people that got in. Does anybody have any updated stats from the waitlist?
Brocimus 06-29-2009, 09:31 PM Was just reading through this thread and it sounds like a lot of you are really close to getting in! Good luck! I'm an applicant for this next cycle and I will be submitting my secondary this week. I know why I like this school, but tell me, why do you all like this school so much and why do you want to go there?
Bludiem 06-30-2009, 06:54 AM I like that it's a newer school ( '04). They seem very attentive to the students and that they are constantly developing according to those needs and the trends of other schools.
The professors I interviewed with were sharp, engaging and knowledgeable of Touro. They seemed to like it there.
I know 2 students from there one who is finishing second year and one third year. They say they got/are getting a great education. They have done/expect to do well on their national exams. They say the Vegas health care system is getting very big very fast and there are a lot of good doctors and rotations. They only had some minor logistical complaints about a single class, some of the other students and the Vegas heat. They both like the area for their families. I have a little (ha!) family myself and that weighs my decision heavily.
Just writing this down and thinking how awesome it would be gets me excited.
There are other schools that I also like, I beleive it just has to feel right to you. There were deffinantly some schools that I just didn't get the vibe from when I interviewed.
Good luck.
ZDawg826 06-30-2009, 08:26 AM got accepted yesterday! good luck to all!
SupraDOc 06-30-2009, 09:34 AM Awesome, congrats everyone! Everyone else hang in there!!!
loungeback 06-30-2009, 10:57 PM H.
spartan522 07-02-2009, 07:21 AM any more updates on the waitlist for the middle half of us? congrats to those who got accepted!
spartan522 07-02-2009, 07:42 AM just emailed Roger and its currently at 56 students called to fill 26 spots. He also said that it is looking a lot like last year where they moved around 50 students.
gaat99 07-06-2009, 10:29 AM Does anyone know if there is another point where we get a lot of movement from the waitlist, like if the next set of payments/deposit is due for accepted students or anything like that?
danimjo 07-06-2009, 10:41 AM Was just reading through this thread and it sounds like a lot of you are really close to getting in! Good luck! Have you already received your secondary? I completed my AACOMAS in June and still haven't received a secondary yet! I'm getting anxious....
Marmot147 07-06-2009, 01:00 PM Hello fellow waitlisters. I just wanted to see where everyone is on the waitlist based on whatever you have heard from roger or on here. It would be helpful to understand the movement a little better. According to Roger last week he said I was around 15 on the list. Anyone around there or under. Thanks guys and good luck.
Is there anyone out there that was told they were top third and have not recieved a call?
Bludiem 07-07-2009, 12:58 AM I'm in the middle third and it sounds like I'm just behind you(keep me posted). Roger is awesome at telling us whatever we want to know. Just ask him specific questions (but be fair) and he'll answer you.
Latest I heard was that they were ~50 people into the waitlist and on the same pace as last year (~90).
Have you seen the weather in Vegas?! 100 plus for more than a week with no releif in sight. I can't wait.

Brocimus 07-07-2009, 10:29 PM Have you already received your secondary? I completed my AACOMAS in June and still haven't received a secondary yet! I'm getting anxious....
Yes I've received the secondary. My primary was in early May, so you are probably ok.

Are you sure? I received this interview inviting me to complete the secondary app, but it's not ready yet. Here's the email:
We have received your AACOMAS application and you qualify for a Supplemental Application. However, we are in the process of making our application available online, and we will update you on status of when it will be made available on or around July 20th, 2009. In the mean time, please continue to move forward with the application process by forwarding letters of recommendation and official transcripts to the Admissions Office at:
According to this email, you can't have your secondary in yet, so how do you have an interview offer?

Hi, I also received this email about a week ago and now after reading the posts here, I am confused about obtaining an interview if the secondary is not even available right now.
Does this mean we should just call this school and inquire about an interview? Anyway, congrats to those who have received an interview!
gaat99 07-08-2009, 03:18 PM emailed Roger today. He said they went through 59 and filled 26 spots.
Bludiem, Vegas heat for no snowstorms seems like a good trade off to me :p. I think I'm after you guys on the waitlist so keep the updates coming.
Marmot147 07-10-2009, 10:48 AM Top 10 as of tuesday. Anyone in the same ballbark?
gaat99 07-16-2009, 10:10 AM A few days ago roger said they went through 62 on the list to get 26 students.
Anyone with experience from previous years know if there is a big push in the waitlist during last few weeks?
Marmot147 07-17-2009, 01:07 PM I got accepted this morning whoohooo!!! Good luck to everyone still waiting, don't give up.
Here is a quick look at the last 3-4 weeks, hope it helps. I called for weekly Tuesday updates and this is how it went down. Top 25, to somewhere in between 10-20, then to #10, and this Tuesday I was #4.
Thanks everyone for all the info along the way.

loungeback 07-24-2009, 07:30 PM I'm staying in Vegas- the apartments near school are too expensive and isolated in my opinion :)

watergirl1202 12-08-2009, 09:58 PM so i just got an interview invite, first one ever. i really dont know what to expect, how to prepare.. please if you have any advice.. please message me.. thank you so much =)
knightdoctor08 12-08-2009, 11:39 PM Just so you know this is in last years thread. But for the interview, I would make sure you have the reasons why you want to go to Touro NV and why you want to be an osteopathic physician down very well. Also this is an open file interview so make sure you read all of your essays and look over you application a few times. I also think it helps to know a good amount of info about the school for their new website. The interview is not too bad and everyone is really nice and relaxed. Check the interview feedback on sdn and good luck.
