Hello everyone. Im not currently applying to medical school; however, I am an upcoming junior and wondering if Im on the right direction to med school or should I take it up a notch?

1st year: Gen Bio/Gen Chem/ Calcs= GPA 3.92 with total credits of 37 credits.

2cd year: Genetics/Anatomy/Evolution/English1/2/ Sociology with one W class- Physics (Bad teacher) GPA= 3.4 with total credits up to 67.

Summer Courses: Ecology-Histology- currently taking.

Overall Gpa= 3.62 (I hate english with a passion...)
Science Gpa aprox= 3.7

Extracurricular=
Fraternity (apo) Fall 07 & Spring 08 dedicated to helping community projects- nursing homes, hospitals, animal shelters, blood drives etc etc.

Chemistry TA Fall 07(Teach Chemistry to students in labs-grade lab reports-and run the labs myself)

Chemistry Discussion leader Fall 07(Tutor kids for free regarding chemistry)

Embracing Hospice ( Summer 07 ) Clerical work in a hospice

Sunhealth escort (Summer 08) Escort patients from facilities in a hospital

Sunhealth Intern (Summer 08) Research and help doctors in a hospital/research institution

3rd Year looks to have Ochem/physics/immunology/research (I'm worried about this year because I have to work really hard)

Do my stats look alright to you guys? I know my first year stats were really good, but my second year dropped. I dropped it for more of a social life (Bad I know) But I LIVED in the library 1st year. Second year I had alot more fun- and honestly i wouldn't trade it for a 4.0...

Do I need to step my game up? Or if I continue with a 3.6/3.7 will i be fine for med applications? Do I need more hospital volunteering (Im worried about that to...) Extracurriculars?

If anything Im going to volunteer 4 hours a week during the school year next year...

Im not looking to go to IVY leagues, but just a decent med school...I wouldn't mind IVY leagues though...

So what in your opininon should I do?

I've thought of going to Dentistry if my stats aren't competitive enough...

You're fine.

Just find clinical experience and find some research experience, which it sounds like you are.

Keep your GPA where it's at, although it wouldn't hurt to try and raise it a little.

Do well on your MCAT >30.

And you will get in if you apply to the right schools, that's also assuming you can interview.
