well not ME
but I think it is an interesting article to read even though it's a month late
http://www.modernmedicine.com/modernmedicine/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=508928
now my question is (and I know some of you may hate it) ...
... is it more advantageous to be a Caucasian doctor as opposed to being a minority in rural medicine?

1. It should not take seven years.... more like 18 to 24 months and you should be in good shape.
2. He has adopted one of only a handful of models that will thrive for PCP's in the coming decades.
3. Not going to touch the race card... but one has to remain realistic about perceptions and practice accordingly.

actually I find lot of patients think some minorities such as Indians and Jews are expert doctors better than their American counterparts, not trying to touch the hot topic button but thats what the perception seems to be which as well might be wrong

It just a fact that some cultures are really into higher learning. I think that stereotypes are always founded on some truth. Isnt that why medical classes have their student body disproportional to the general population? So I could see why some people think that the expert docs are minorities.

Is there a way to access this article without being a member? To answer the question, you have to define "rural". There's rural Florida where being fluent in Spanish is a must, and then there's rural Kentucky... but either way I think rural areas are in such great need of physicians that you would do well no matter what race you were.

Off topic: We all know trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is better then ceftazidime... :D
Either way, does your school have a VPN that you can log into and then put links into? It's as if you are on campus and allows you access to any journals that your school subscribes to.
