Can someone recommend an inexpensive answering service for a new office? Alternatively, I've been thinking about getting an answering system that has a capability of sending a page to a cell phone if a message is left.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Call some recent grads in the area who aren't competing with you--FPs, IMs, etc.--find out who they use. Primary care practices are generally very cost-sensitive and should have worked out the best service/price.

So are you going in with the optom?

Yes, as a part of my arrangement.
