View Full Version : Kaplan DAT 2008-2009 color edition...too easy?
americanpierg 07-04-2008, 12:31 PM So I just went through the biology section, all 200 pages, in a little over 2 hours. It was just simple review, and does not go in depth at all. Is this book just crap or is this bascially what I just need to know for the REAL DAT, just a little bit more in depth with wiki lookups?
polarmolar 07-04-2008, 12:51 PM What do you mean by color edition?
2 hrs is super quick to go through the entire bio section so I am assuming you don't mean the blue book..
DDSguyLA 07-04-2008, 01:14 PM saw the new edition.. lol
it's color (cheap color) that is
good paper thou... finaly worth that $100
D.D.S. 07-04-2008, 01:19 PM If you can finish the bio section in 2 hours... definitely not enough!
The kaplan blue book has more information than what you probably read, try going through that, and also other sources such as campbells, cliffs, destroyer, topscore, achiever.. personally using these sources should be enough if you're a bio major. worked for me.
americanpierg 07-04-2008, 01:55 PM I think it's the blue book, It says on the cover "The #1 Bestselling DAT Guide, DAT 2008-2009 Edition" and " Now in Full Color". Its a blue book about 800 pages, with 2 full elngth practice tests. The biology section was very very broad, and everything was pretty much just straight forward review ( no photosynthesis?!!!), with only the Classification section really being the only section with information I couldn't recall.
I'm planning on just going through Schaums book now.

maybe you are just unorthodoxly smart.
but not smart enough to realize it? or too boastful... you choose.
Contach 07-05-2008, 01:08 AM How many kinds of Kaplan books are there?
I signed up for the Kaplan class and I have a Kaplan book from them that is white and light blue (it apparently replaced a blue one from last year).
Then I have seen the colour one.. Are there any others?
Are there others?
license2kill 07-05-2008, 04:22 AM Personally, I feel as if the Kaplan book is garbage. I am just saying this out of personal opinion. It has no detail. Just a mellowed out version skimming the main topics.

the book you get when you take the class is the same as the colour one (08-09 edition)/blue book (all editions before 08) except the white and light blue one has little 10-20 question quizzes after every section.
supraman 07-05-2008, 08:49 AM If you got through that whole bio section in two hours, I think you don't need to study anymore bio ha
doc3232 07-06-2008, 07:18 AM If you "skimmed" it in 2 hours then you didn't really read anything...
Sugarless 07-06-2008, 12:40 PM For reviewing BIO of Blue Book, it took 2-3 2wks along with Cambell textbook.

Indeed
mike787 07-06-2008, 08:56 PM Try doing some questions to check yourself like in the Destroyer or end of the chapter questions
Shjfr 07-06-2008, 09:24 PM I'm assuming that since you are a 2 year member with near 500 posts this is a joke...
