Please explain why/why not.

Most people who do a fellowship either just really love the subject matter, intend to teach, do research, or intend to do clincal work. A fellowship is not needed or extremely beneficial for those who intend to do retail work.

Thanks for the reply, but I do believe that fellowship and residency are 2 different things.

I just did one of my externships under a "community practice" resident. She, most likely, will end up in retail practice. She told me that her reason for doing the residency year was to solidify her knowledge (?) and become more confident as a practitioner as opposed to being a student. (which, for some people in my class, would be a REEEALLY good thing.)
