Ok, I signed up for Kaplan online course. It said that I must complete the diagnostic tests in order to get access to my syllabus. I already took the diagnostic tests. I still haven't received the syllabus. Am I being ripped off?

No once you take the diagnostic, I think it took ~3 days for the diagnostic score to be posted. Only after the diagnostic and score report are available are you able to access the Kaplan course syllabus. If I remember correctly!!!!

Today is the fourth day after the diagnostic tests, and I still don't have it! What should I do?
I am having the same problem right now! I took the dignostic online yesterday, and the scores showed up right away after I was done. I also did the science assessment exam and saw the scores for that too. I tried to fill out the personal profile part as well (where you give your gpa, etc) and I could only get through half of it. The rest of it seemed to have a problem because when I clicked on the answer choice bubble, it does nothing (doesn't fill it in). I was thinking that maybe because I wasn't able to finish, and fill in the rest of the personal profile, that maybe it would not let me through to the syllabus?
Does anyone know if you are signed up for the online class only, and take the diagnostic & science assessment online (where the scores are in right away) does it still take several days to get access to the syllabus? or do you think this is because my personal profile questions have not all been answered? ANY help is appreciated!
To the OP: If you took the diagnostic in a center, you may just be dealing with a slow center that drags their feet on submitting the score online. I would call your center to ask what is going on.

MCATsmymistress, I'm in the similar boat with you. I saw my scores online right after I took the online diagnostic and science assessment. What's taking so long?

Good news! I called the 1-800 number & the guy did something to give me access to the syllabus (I guess it was a problem with their system???). So now everything works, just give them a call!
The only thing is that it still didn't let me finish the "personal profile" questions, so I don't have access to their "study plan" but I'll ask them about that later I guess. Where you able to finish all the questions in the personal profile? (I got up to #15)

Maybe it was just my case and unfortunate experience, but I had problems with the "online" aspect of Kaplan, particularly 1) my MCAT diagnostic score and 2) my "question type" breakdowns being posted. In regards to 1) it took me 2 weeks to get my score posted (after two calls to tech support) and with respect to 2) I NEVER got my "question type" breakdowns (essentially saying what science topics you are good at and not good at) to this day (I started my course in June and ended first week of July and I took my MCAT July 18). The first thing that I did was to "complete" my "Personal Profile" questions, but when I went to it, they were all filled out already. I clicked submit again for the questions, but I said that it was still incomplete. So I thought that maybe there was some programming glitch where I had to answer a particular question that I may have thought I could leave blank. So I went over each question on the "Personal Profile" one by one, but it still was saying that it was incomplete when I submitted it. After that, I decided to contact tech support. It took me three separate calls to tech support (after about 2 calls to my local Kaplan center to guide me to tech support after they at the center contacted tech support first and were unable to explain what was going on ?!? WTF ?!?). Eventually, I just gave up 4 weeks into my class (see below).
This is quite disappointing for two big reasons: 1) Kaplan loves to emphasize (I think in Critical Thinking I or some other of the earliest classroom lessons) that having your "question type" breakdown is one of the key distinguishing advantages of taking Kaplan (directly from my "teachers" mouth: "it helps you target your weakest areas, so you know what topics to focus on") and 2) it just made my feel even more "ripped off" for spending the amount of money that I did for the classroom package. Moreover, I spoke to my Kaplan teacher about the problem, (apparently, Kaplan teachers have access to all their students accounts and can go in and check what the problem is) she just nonchalantly replied that not only was she not able to access that "question type" breakdowns, but that she wasn't even able to access my scores. I didn't know whether she was fibbing me or what, but I was very annoyed and pissed off to say the very least at this point...I was nothing but sure that she would at least be able to witness my problem and hopefully act accordingly with her superior. I finally called tech support one last time and explained my situation (admittedly, I was very angry at this point and should have waited to call after I cooled down), and exclaimed rather angrily that "this should be the least of my stresses when dealing with a MCAT exam that's so *effin* important for me. But the only response I got was "sir, please stop 'cussin'", and the agent hung up on me. I officially gave up after that. I continued to use the material and work my butt off, but it was disappointing every time I thought about how I was treated so unfairly.
The point of my rant is is that after seeing this thread, it was the first thread that I actually felt I really needed to respond to after officially joining SDN several days ago. Kaplan is by no means "evil", nor is its material particularly detrimental to your MCAT study efforts (although I would NEVER choose the program again even without the aforementioned problems....or so I'd like to that I am so unbiased in my actual "content" evaluation...but that's not the point of this thread). I honestly hope that you guys don't have to go through what I went through, but from what I read initially it seemed like the same problem I had at the beginning of my class. Please let me know if this is the case. It would just make me feel better to know that I was not the only one; and I do sincerely hope that if it is the same case, that it gets solved as soon as possible! Studying for the MCAT is so damn stressful enough! Best of luck to all!
BTW I took my MCAT 07/18/08...check out the 07/18 MCAT thread to see if "Kaplan really is a score-booster".
