Is it a difficult program to matcu into? roldgold 12-23-2002, 12:09 PM I interviewed at Baylor recently. I like the fact that the residents rotate at VA, county, and private hospitals. They get a good amount of autonomy and are exposed to a lot of pathology. But they seem to work pretty hard (no night float, no call-free months, etc.). The program reminded me of Emory's, but I think Emory is easier in terms of work hours. Also, Atlanta has a more happening social life than Houston. I have no idea how hard it is to match there. What did you think of Baylor's PD? He really irritated me for some reason; his program overview was way too rehearsed. ss00991 12-23-2002, 12:15 PM I agree about the PD. I thought his presentation was very reherssed and he was somewhat arrogant. But I liked the program despite its malignant nature. Did you find that everyone you interviewed with tells you the samething. Something like "you are a strong candidate," or "we want you here next year," or we think you will do very well here." I had four interviews at Baylor. They all said the above. Its hard to know what to believe. gas-x 12-23-2002, 01:58 PM I interviewed at Baylor Houston for their anesthesia program. Along with that, I received some information regarding their transitional program. Based on what i could tell, the residents work very hard. it's quite malignant, probably almost like UTSW in dallas. i'm just talking about the ward months. i have a buddy who is an Med-peds resident. he almost switched completely out of the medicine department and straight into peds because he was so overwhelmed. but he stayed, and will be just fine. |
