if you transfer between residency programs and go from one location to another does this kill your chances at a fellowship?

Not automatically, but you'll have to explain yourself, and "I liked the weather in Florida better" would probably be considered "bad form"

If you have a good reason for transfer then don't worry about it.

Not necessarily.
They will want to know why you transferred.
Need more information.
If the PD at your first program says something bad about you, and you apply to a competitive specialty like cards or GI or hem/onc, that could lead to badness. I know somebody who our PD hated, though, and he got in to GI at a very prestigious place, b/c the GI program director at our residency vouched for him. A lot of getting in to fellowship is "who you know" as well as where you did residency. Research and USMLE scores help too.
