View Full Version : DAT done, do i have chance this cycle?
nhasifuture 07-31-2008, 12:38 PM just took the DATs, here are my scores:
PAT-19
RC-16:scared: (English is my second lang. but I know this is not an excuse)
QR-20
BIO-19
OC-19
GC-19
AA-19
TS-19
I'm happy b/c it's finally over, SAD at the same time since my scores are not that competitive, especially with a 16 on RC. I had the PIANO passage which was insanely hard.
my overall gpa-3.45, sci gpa-3.39. My applications and LORs have already been sent out to schools. I'm applying to all 6 D-schools in cali (i'm a cali resident), and quite a few out-of-state schools (BU, NYU, VCU, UNLV, Creighton, Case, Pitts, Midwestern) . Do I have a chance this cycle, or at least get interviews? Do I have to retake the DATs? If i have to, I'm planning to retake the DATs on the first week of Nov. will that be too late?
Also, I havent sent out my DAT scores to schools yet. I havent paid for application fee yet. I'm planning to withdraw my applications from UCLA & UCSF to save some $$ since i know i'll not have a chance. Is it still possible to do that? Any inputs are greatly appreciated, and please be honest. Thanks so much guys!!!
DRHOYA 07-31-2008, 12:42 PM Ah man, that piano passage was insane, I feel your pain on that. Your scores are very consistent. I wish my scores had the same consistancy as yours. Good job.

lots of 19 in your score, it looks very solid :D. I endede up with 14 in same reading passages.
terpsbb9 07-31-2008, 02:38 PM This piano thing is getting way worse than I thought. I took my test in June and got the piano passage, a passage on enzyme receptors (gprotein and camp stuff) and some sort of throat disease. I didn't think it was anything crazy, but ended up getting an 18, which was crazy low for me. I was scoring in the 24-25 range on all three Topscore practice tests. I'm taking the test again in Sept. just for the hell of it (i'm a glutton for punishment). If I get the same passage, does that mean I will get the same test as well. I wonder if all of us who got the piano passage had the same exact test? Any idea on this?
needa20 07-31-2008, 02:57 PM i took the test today too. your AA is 1 point higher than mine. you have to remember that the people here on SDN score higher than the majority of the population.
just so you can see, look at the accepted scores from last year here:

According to the table of stats, your scores are definitely competitive. They're also very consistent. Be proud:)
nhasifuture 07-31-2008, 03:55 PM thanks guys for the inputs, i really appreciate it. I guess what worries the most is my RC score. Is 16 below the cutoff for most schools? thanks
msavaya 08-01-2008, 12:11 AM The best way to find out if there is a cut off for the particular schools you are interested is calling... it won't hurt to call... I also think your scores are very good... Good job! I believe you should go for it and apply because no one really knows whether or not you have a chance...Each applicant has different backgrounds and a different life story...so I think you should always think positive and you never know what might come your way. Good Luck!
nhasifuture 08-01-2008, 02:23 PM thanks, anyone else?
sang86 08-01-2008, 02:42 PM good job!
efficient 08-01-2008, 04:12 PM Very good scores. I think you have an excellent chance.
