It is from Destroyer bio #319.

I think oncogene and carcinogen both can induce cancer.

Why answer is oncogene? the answer should be both.

i have a bootleg dat destroyer and only have questions up to like 290 :(

ur right about both but oncogene is a gene where as carcinogens are stuff like asbestos, radiation, smoke, etc. perhaps that'll help you narrow it down.

the question is ANY GENE that has potential to induce cancerous transformation is called: an ONCOGENE

carcinogen is NOT a GENE

This would be so much easier if he posted the question when he asked it. ;)

The genetic mutations that can be CAUSED BY carcinogens MAY ACTIVATE oncogenes that may cause a cell to start to proliferate out of control as in the case of cancer.

I hate it when you think you know bio, but then some new word pops up like oncogene.

Never seen it in my life..

A basic understanding of the formation of medical terminology would have lead to the correct answer.

Onco is short for oncology which deals with the study and treatment of cancer.
