Hi. For those of you who have taken the real MCAT, do you have any feeling about which Kaplan test you took was most like the real thing? Some of them really seem to vary in difficulty, so I'd appreciate your comments on which # full length is closest to the real thing. I took 1-3, 6-7, already. Thanks.

I'd also like to know which ones of all 11 FLs are most like the real thing too! (besides 9 which I have heard is STRONGLY recommended / very similar to the real thing)

From what I've gathered #9 is a good predictor of score. #10-11 are just killers.

Oh wow. I started FL9 and the PS section was a killer, especially the first few passages... is it really that bad? I never know what to think because the Kaplan PS is literally twice as hard as the AAMC full lengths released.

I thought AAMC 9 was suppose to be the good predictor and every kaplan from 8-11 (especially 10-11) were tough. Maybe I am wrong though...

I thought Kaplan FL 9's science sections (especially PS) were WAYYYY harder than any of the AAMC's science sections.

I'm only hoping that Kaplan 9 is not like the real thing.

I am interested in hearing someone who has taken it recently, and took these tests beforehand.

T12 have you taken Kaplan FLs before 9? (1-5 in particular). If so how did you feel Kaplan FL9 compared to the Kaplan FL you took?

Kaplan FL 4 has the hardest PS I have ever seen!

Kaplan FL 9 is nothing compared to it....

if Kaplan 9 is a good predictor then I'm shoothing for 38.. but yea Kaplan 10 was killer! My kaplan 6-7-8-9 scores ranged from 31,33,35,38 respectively after a lotta intense studying during weekdays and doing exam on saturdays during July. And then with 10 days to go, I did Kaplan 10 yesterday to find out that I'm only at 28 level! woww.. neva neva had made anything less than low 30s on first five kaplan and AAMC avg is around 33/34 with 35 being the highest (#9). Hope that helps!

Edit:
I forgot to mention why the score was that low other than the fact that it was ridiculously hard (few PS passages were impossible got a 9?? wtf...Verbal was actually pretty decent but the curve was harsh. Got 30/40 right = 8 for Kap 10 - usually I get around 9/10 with that many right, Biology was uhhh.. ok not impossible got 40/52 = 11 coulda gotten few more right. I think my internet going off in between the test screwed it up cuz I had to rush to nearby library to complete it and lets say its not the best place to do mcat exams.

Any other opinions? I haven't taken any of the tests, but rumor has it that FL 9 and 1-5 are most similar to the real MCAT. Agree? Disagree? Let me know. Also, which tests does the Kaplan course require you to take? I posted this question in another thread, but I'd just like to know which practice tests I'll be able to save 'til the month before my actual MCAT

Yes I have heard FL9 repeatedly recommended, but haven't taken it yet. I will be closer to test date. 1-5 are required for Higher Score Guarantee, and are good practice but in my opinion curved so generously that they end up being easier to do well in (despite being more difficult than AAMC exams)

My FL3 score was a 39. A week beforehand, I had taken FL2 and scored a 36 (my FL1 was 35) and I just took AAMC3 and scored a 33 so I have a feeling the FL3 curve is somewhat generous, especially given that others that I know had huge scoring increases in that as well as the fact that I did not study anything between FL2 and 3. (have not taken the MCAT yet)

glad to see other people thought f-l 9 was hard. i thought the first 2 passages were kindof impossible. are we expected to know these obscure topics?

In my opinion - even the killers help. They at least expose you to harder things that may show up as random questions on the real thing. I just took AAMC 10, and I'm hoping that that is a good predictor. I took Kaplan 8, and I did ridiculously well on verbal, so I'm not sure what that means, but I hope it is like the real thing...

Holy cow, you guys weren't kidding about Kaplan 4 PS. I feel like I just got raped and for the first time out of any practice test, I ran out of time on the PS section and had to blindly mark answers for 5-6 questions. Its official--> Kaplan FL #4 PS is the hardest ever

Do you think FL1-5 get easier/more curved as you progress? I mean these ARE required for the higher score guarantee, so do you think they make it easier so it feels like you're really improving??

I went from 30 on FL1 with a steady improvement to 40+ on FL5, although I really felt FL5 was curved too easily, given that the material was a lot easier in my opinion. Did anyone find similarly?
