What sort of plastic surgery do you see ophtho's doing? What sort of fellowship would this require? Is it common amongst ophtho's?

there is a subspecialty called oculoplastics, or ophthalmic plastic & reconsructive surgery that would entail a 1-2 yr fellowship. These are highly competitive positions, and there are only a handful in the US. Your options are: 1) general ophthalmologist that does simple plastics procedures (ptosis, lid lift, biopsieas)
2) fellowship train & then do a mix of general ophtho & plastics
3) fellowship train & then do exclusively plastics (to include lacrimal surgery, orbital surgery, lid surgery... both functional & cosmetic)
