I got a CD for Kaplan MCAT premier 2007-2008 which contains 2 practice tests on it. Since PS is my weakest section I decided to do a section from it. I found the section tough and as expected, I got 19 wrong out of 45 (26 correct). I was expecting my scaled score would be around a 6 but the program tells me I got a 9.

I was wondering how accurate that is? I know it varies based on the curve but on the actual MCAT, is it possible to miss that many questions and still get a 9?

I took the Kaplan course and found my practice tests/sections scores matched very well to my official MCAT score. However, since the scaling on each test/section varies, look at percent correct rather than your scaled score. Try to consistently get 70% correct and you shouldn't have to worry about your MCAT score. It seemed that all of my practice tests and sections I was scoring anywhere from an 8-12, and on test day I scored...10,10,10. Just keep practicing and studying. oh, and the actual MCAT has 52 total questions, not 45.

Yeah I'm not sure why there are fewer questions on the Kaplan tests on this CD but they also give less time as well (60 min for 45 q/6 passages here vs. 70 min for 52 q/7 passages on the real test) to compensate. I'm still brushing up on physics and hope to do a little better there. 70% correct looks like a good target to hit. Thanks.

i have the kaplan 2007 premeir program textbook and yesterday i took the first test on the cd and got 30/45 correct and it gave me a 5! yet the PS i got 28/45 correct and it gave me a 9!

Am i experiencing soem sort of curve? or glitch?

seriously I think there is something wrong with the practice tests scales on the CD, particularly the VR one. I took one test today and I got the most unbalanced score ever. I was sky high in PS but got lower than I ever got in VR.
