I was wondering if anyone who has wanted to or previously done a 4th yr away rotation in Cardiology knows of a reputable institution that has open spots for a Cardiology away in October. After having put down 3 choices for an elective at Harvard, their registrar has informed me that I was not selected in the lottery (this is after I waited 3 months for them to process my application). I would go to the department but the email is quite ominous and says that this will result in "automatic dismissal". Can anyone currently at Harvard or those who have rotated there shed some light on if I have any other options (contacting Student Affairs, etc.)? I do have a backup but I'm not sure if I will land that one either. I want to be somewhere where I can learn a lot and hopefully get a letter of rec out of it.

Thanks

I am currently a resident at BWH, but did any away rotation here at BWH as a 4th year med student a few years ago. I also wanted to do cardiology, but I listed 13 different electives on my form, and was granted an away rotation in pulmonary instead. The communication with this office is difficult, but I would recommend that you give them MANY options and you will probably get a rotation. At this point you could email or even call the office given that your application was processed. Good luck.
