View Full Version : what kind of IM program can an avg student with a 251 step 1 enter? amherstguy 08-15-2008, 07:31 PM ???? avg student lucky break on step 1??? what type of IM programs would be a reasonable shot for me? jiy76 08-16-2008, 02:59 PM Considering that u are an average student with a 251 i think u should expect to scramble and be prepared for years of improving your cv before even attempting to match. If you were a good student with a 251 things would be totally different. Freakingout 08-16-2008, 07:57 PM I'm interested in this as well, it seems like most students who have a high step 1 also do really well and at least get some honors some where. In last year's match thread it seemed like AOA was a much more helpful factor than step 1 overall. aProgDirector 08-17-2008, 07:18 PM It's impossible to answer questions like this, because of all the other details. Your score of 251 will certainly not get you rejected from any good program! Since you've asked the same question in Gas and Ortho, and perhaps Rad Onc, perhaps you should spend your time figuring out which field you want to apply for. :D CorpuSpongiosum 08-18-2008, 11:42 AM Shucks with a 252, you might have been a legitimate candidate for a lot of really solid programs! wire 08-18-2008, 11:51 AM I heard the University of Guadalajara might be accepting family medicine residents. It's probably worth a shot, even though it's unlikely. |
