How "target" is this date?

I am starting an away this Monday and would like to get a letter of rec from the program director for my app. That means that I would have to ask him after a week of my rotation and give him a week to write it. That sounds inappropriate to me but I'm desperate because it's my first choice. Any suggestions besides sending a letter with CAS stating that a letter is on the way and not asking him?

I haven't searched the threads for this topic so I apologize if this is the umpteenth thread of its kind.

I got on the website to ease the stress and now I am freaking out. yikes.
Does it look bad if I get my second LOR from an ophthalmologist (practiced 7 years before doing a fellowship this year) who is working under the ophthalmologist that I got my first letter from?

I don't understand how people had time to do rotations fast enough to get LORs from two ophthos already.
