I just took my DAT yesterday and am extremely happy with my scores. I used Kaplan DAT and MCAT book, Cliffs AP Bio, Topscore, DAT Destroyer, Campbells Bio Textbook, McMurry Organic Textbook, lots of notes from my college bio, gen, and org classes, and Crack the DAT PAT. I studied for about 2 weeks in the end of june just getting a background on everyting, then took physics II summer school for a month, and studied hard for about two and a half weeks 10-12 hours a day.

TS #1 #2 #3 Real DAT
Bio 22 22 21 24 98.7
Chem 23 23 25 24 95.2
Org 25 28 28 26 98.1
Pat 25 25 25 25 99.7
QR 20 20 22 18 75.8
RC 22 22 21 24 97.2
TS 24 23 25 99.6
AA 23 23 23 98.3

Don't have TS or AA for TS #1 b/c I took it in segments and not the Complete one.

My CDP scores were #1:22, #2:25, #3:25, #4:22, #5:24, #6:29. The majority of questions I missed on CDP were angle ranking and cube counting.

The real DAT keyhole is same as CDP, only one of mine was really hard. TFE is about the same maybe a little easier. Angle ranking was easier most were easier than CDP while there were two or three like CDP with only a few degrees apart. Hole punch was easier with the exception of one which had a fold which I have never seen before and still don't understand how it could have worked. Cube Counting was easier than CDP, no illusions. Folding was about the same, maybe harder than CDP. CDP is definately the way to prepare for the PAT. Topscore's is decent but some of topscores figures and answer choices are not to scale and some don't even have the right answer. I actually think that CDP's graphics and resolution were a little better than DAT's.

Now to the Destroyer. It was definately a good review after I had studied to help see different types of questions. I think a couple of Bio questions were like word for word from the Destroyer. However the Destroyer has WRONG answers for like 6 questions in bio and like 4 or 5 in organic which I plan on emailing Dr. Romano and asking for a possible refund or something. Just so everyone will know every question in Destroyer with an epoxide acid catalyzed reaction is WRONG. It only adds to the highest degree carbon when it is tertiary(SN1 like), otherwise it acts just like the base catalyzed adding to the lower degree carbon(SN2). When you pay a $150 for something you expect for everything to be correct. Destroyer's QR was definitely easier than the Real DAT but was good review. The real DAT's is so hard b/c of the dry erase markers and laminated sheets and I ran out of time with like five I hadn't done even though I was working as fast as I possibly could. Also the Prometrics person walking in and behind you every 10 minutes checking on you is kind of distracting, not too big of a deal though.

Biology was easier than Topscore's b/c topscores would have like 3 or 4 questions from the same topic on each test, so if you didn't know it you would miss at least 2 or 3. DAT's is much more comprehensive. Kaplan books, Destroyer, and Cliffs do a great job of preparing for this. Also Campbells was great for more detailed information over certain things.

Gen chem was easier than destroyer. I didn't really use Kaplan for gen chem or organic b/c my college notes were really good for these, so can't tell you if it helps for it. Overall I thought it was pretty easy with a couple questions that were hard. Also be sure to look at the answer choices before trying to get a number for the answer. Two of them just wanted the setup of numbers and I solved them and then saw it.

Organic was easier than destroyer as well. I thought I was going to get a perfect 29. I really want to know what I missed.

For RC i got lucky. I had two really easy passages and the other one was pretty easy. I finished right on time and felt really good about it, but never expected a 24. I had never made over a 22 on practice tests. I think the section is just luck on whether you get easy passages or you get long, hard passages.

Glad its over, now school starts in three days. I'm not applying this cycle I will be applying for 2010 admission.

So do you think that Topscore was easier than the real DAT?
