Hey can someone please explain to me what 1,2 and 1,4 additions are in organic - for some reason I forgot how to do them. - Thanks!

Lucky you that I was just reading it....

1. (1,2 addition)= happens when the temp is low (-40) and it is under kinetic control.

2. (1,4 addition) = happens in high temp and under thermodynamic control

with what reagents do you use for 1,2 or 1,4 additions?

theyre addition reactions so go through a carbocation. so i believe it should be polar protic solvents
