wow you really didn't research this ahead of time did you...for fellowships, ucla is king. their GI fellowship matches are among the best in the country.
I know all of these things, nevertheless I am not a fan of slave labor (UC system). this is your own ranking based on the overall picture

UCSD, Scripps, and UCI are NOT exactly "LA" . . . so I assume you mean SoCal, not "LA" . . . you forgot about Loma Linda, it's easily on par with USC for fellowship placement, and is easily better than Huntington - LLU is a good sized University Program (Uni, VA, and County hosp's, ALL fellowships represented), they take their own quite often for GI and they have hepatology. UCI got inot come controversy with livers a few years, so I'd investigate them closely if you're wanting GI to see if they've made a damage control comeback or not.
Otherwise, UCLA is tops for fellowship placement, everything else you can argue one way or the other . . .

In terms of fellowship placement, many programs list where recent graduates have gone - so you can judge for yourself:
Eg:
http://www.imresidency.med.ucla.edu/residents.htm
http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/10775.html
http://imresidency.ucsd.edu/graduates.shtml
Obviously, this doesn't give the whole story (who applied, who was rejected, whether or not they got their top choices, etc) - but provides some info, nonetheless.

Harbor-UCLA has done very well in the GI match the past few years. Because of the smaller size of the program, the faculty really gets to know the residents. Check out www.harboruclamed.com (http://www.harboruclamed.com) and click on alumni for more information on their match
