I hope alleyes won't be offended, but I've started another thread so we can all benefit from this advice:
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I thought that some of you might be able to give me some insight. I am currently a 4th year medical student applying for ophthalmology and I have an interest in pursuing retina. Since letters of recs from retina faculty seem to be some of the most important components of applying for a retina fellowship, training at a program with a really strong retina department seems logical. How do I assess the strength of a retina department? How do I determine the leading retinal surgeons in the field? I would appreciate any information on this subject and possibly a "rank" list of retina programs. I have searched SDN and the info I have found dates back a couple years and I know that faculty and programs change frequently. Feel free to PM me so that it will not interfere with the thread that I have rudely interupted.
