View Full Version : Really bad QR score, what are my chances?
belami85 10-19-2008, 10:04 PM Hello everyone,
I just took the DAT was way harder that any of the sample tests I have done. I did all from Kaplan, destroyer, Topscore Pro. The Bology was totaly brutal..questions I have never seen eventhough I am a Bio major. On the Gen chem I had to calculate all till the final answer, none were easy set up of equation as kaplan and topscore suggest. PAt was a killer ,have neverr seen folds like that or objects like these.(i was doing 24 on kaplan and Topscore pats...) RC: the second text was abour bridges!!!Toataly crazy answer choices, some of them were about 3 statements and they want you to tell which one is correct or not and if the final reasoning is correct or not... crazy! WTF?:) anyways, My scores are:
PAT 18
QR 13
RC 17
Bio 20
GChem 19
Orgo 21
TS 20
AA 18
The rest of my application is fine:research, shadowing, pre dental society president and so on... I heard that the schools get only PAT/TS/AA as score report, no QR an so on breakdown, is that true?
Thank you! Good luck to everyone!
supraman 10-19-2008, 10:14 PM You're ranting about how hard the test was yet you scored well?
Dunno bout your 13, good luck, I take this ish on wednesday
UCfan 10-20-2008, 03:00 AM I think that u r good to go. APPLY EARLY(that makes incredible difference). I know that DAT is a challenging exam and it is harsh to do above national average in every sections. Luckily ur lowest section was the qr the least important one. I agree with you that bio questions were really hard and random(my version was similar to urs). Angle rankings were incredibly hard too. Maybe we both got the same version of the test. I was doing 23-24 in both bio and PAT, but my real DAT bio and pat scores were 20-19. I was very disappointed at that time but they are ok. Good luck. Let me know when you get the acceptance.
gentile1225 10-20-2008, 09:55 AM if you applied early i'd say go for it, you have nothing to lose, but some schools may look down at that low qr. where are you applying to?
eldirty 10-20-2008, 11:31 AM I think youll be fine. Many before you have received similar marks and have been invited for interviews. QR is definitely not a judge of your ability in anyway.

We get the same TS and AA score and QR scores. Wish us luck!!!
No some school have cut off. If you have ADEA books, it will tell you or call schools. For instance, USC said the rest of my application including other score are fine but i have still to take DAT again because their cut off for each section is 15.
Case does not have a cut off but they still want me to take it again. Apparently, they do not accept students with RC scores below 18. You can call Case to confirm this but i am sure they will repeat what they said to me.
belami85 10-20-2008, 01:02 PM I applied in July, they were just waiting for my DAT scores.
CASE, Harvard, NJDM, UVDM, UF, Nova, UC-San Fran, Baylor, Arizona, Buffalo, UCoNN. I applied to most of the states schools that allow you to switch to instate tuition after the first year of being a resident. I can save you a bunch of money on your overall tuiton and on your car insurance :). I am a MAss resident so I am basically applying as out of state all around with exception of UCOnn becasue they offer New England Residents tuition.
belami85 10-20-2008, 01:04 PM Didi they call you From CASE and asked you to take it again for this application cycle or they rejected you and said try again next year and get at least 18?
belami85 10-20-2008, 01:06 PM Hopefully they dont care that much about the QR or have a cutoff, if they do I am totally F...! Good luck to everyone!!!
lhtran07 10-20-2008, 03:41 PM I'm in the same boat...my QR is also a 13 :scared:
needa20 10-20-2008, 05:25 PM to one of your first questions, i think the schools do get our full score breakdown for every section.
that being said, i had an interview today and they did not have my scores in front of them. so they asked my aa, ts, rc, and bio... I said, do you want to know the rest? he said no, RC and BIO are the biggest predictions on how you will do on boards...
belami85 10-20-2008, 09:28 PM WOW ,that sounds encouraging! which school was that, if you don't mind me asking? thanks!

I have similar scores in AA and TS as you, with a 14 in QR and a 17 in PAT. I took the DAT in early September and my application was complete in Early October. I just recently got an interview for NYU and UMD, so I think you'll be fine. I applied late, and with very average to below average scores, and was pretty lucky to get 2 interviews. I'm sure you'll get some interviews too, and those two schools aren't even my state school.
I think you're good.
lhtran07 10-20-2008, 11:34 PM Gah....now I'm getting scared that I took my DAT too late...oct 11.
Bio 20, Gchem 18, Ochem 16, PAT 18, RC 21, QR 13 (boo!)
The schools probably won't even get my scores until the end of this month/early nov. Do you guys recommend contacting the schools to see if they've received your scores or wait until they contact you?
belami85 10-21-2008, 10:18 AM Thank is agood question, i would call exactly 3 weeks after you took the exam, tocheck they have all the materials. I was thinking to send an unofficial scores to the scools in advance, is that a good idea?

you might want to call up the school before you send out your unofficial score, b/c some schools will say that its unnecessary and they are willing to just wait for your official scores. I think it really depends on the school.
