Sorry for the repost but I'm going crazy.. need advice.. so stressed!!
My top choice dental school told me to retake Hi guys, so I was advised by a dental school of my #1 choice to retake the DAT by Nov 30th for a chance to get in!!!! I took it July 31st, probably forgot most of the stuff. Kaplan did not help, the DAT achiever, top score & crack the dat did. Any suggestion on how I should study for the next month (omg I only have a month!!!:eek::eek:) to get a 20TS and improve the math to at least an 18??
Are there any other classes or private tutors out there?
Thanks for all the advice in advance..

call your other schools and see if they want you to retake. I took the DAT the exact same day and have the exact same AA and TS. check my predents. i have 2 interviews and 3 rejections so far. I cant tell you what to do, but I would def not retake unless all other schools told me to retake. i would not retake just because one school told me to even if it was my top choice.

like i said, thats just me. i do have some schools that i prefer, but not a favorite. i will go anywhere God gets me into.

so that is just my opinion. have you heard from others schools yet? I would not retake unless told to or no interviews from other scools.

that being said. you could just study like a mad man between now and oct 31 incase you decide to retake. i used kaplan book, topscore, cdp, and barrons, and lots of prayer

good luck

Thank you for all the advice.. yeah i didnt apply to the same schools you did but our scores are so similar! Good for you congrats on the interviews!!! I think im gonna retake, because if i never do, ill never now if i could have gotten into that school that i love so much. It's in the city that I live in and that would mean not only saving $ on living cost but also not having to move out of my "comfort zone"
Thanks for the advice!!

Hey, we are in same boat. One of the school that I applied told me to retake for improving RC at least a 19. I have to retake by Nov. 30th also and I work there at the one of Dental Lab. :scared::scared::scared: I also panic. maybe we should stick and study together.

but with their 3 year program and not to mention SF being one of the best cities to live in will pay for itself sooner or later. Id pay to go to UoP. The Bay Area is gorgeous, I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else.

Use your notes from last time and start studying by reviewing the notes and filling in the content areas that you're still weak on. If you still have Kaplan, retake all of the Gchem subject tests and the math subject tests because both of those can help you prepare really well, for bio and ochem I'd say really take a good look at your notes from last time and see what you didn't study as much as you should have.

lol, this whole time I'm thinking its Univ of Penn, its the Univ of Pacific right?

The reason I say is because I will never go through that DAT studying time again, I never want to repeat such times again. But if you do repeat, may god help you lol

Ya supraman is right...NO way will I ever study for that exam again!!!! I really don’t care if I don’t get into my Number 1 school just as long as my 2nd and 3rd accept me then I'm fine. Personally I wouldn’t do it, but if you really really feel like your number 1 school will make you a better dentist or what not then go for it. all dental schools are the same... they may have different curriculums but at the end they teach you the same thing. Think about it, is your patient going to ask you "doctor by the way before we get started, what school did you graduate from? if you didn’t graduate from X dental school then I would like leave at this moment". In the end you have to make that decision and if you feel your number 1 school will make you happy then go for it. Best of luck with your studies and acceptance!!!

yeah, i meant U of Pacific supraman =)
oh don't get me wrong, i know i know it doesn't matter where you get your degree from!! But im worried that this might be my last chance to a dental school this year.. look at my stats.. pretty low compared with the rest of the ppl on here.. and the 16 in qr is killing me!! So far "in review" for all schools except the ones that already rejected me- ucsf&ASDOH.. i might not get into anywhere!!! And that would suck& mean that i will need to retake the stupid test ANYWAY.. so im here sitting studying my ass off witht he Destroyer
Thanks for the advice!!!

. The Bay Area is gorgeous, I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else.Having lived in the Bay Area, I can tell you that there _are_ better places to live, at least outside of SF. In SF: Too crowded, sky-high housing prices, no place to park. But outside of SF, the East Bay and North Bay are nice. South Bay is too built-up and kind of far to commute to UoP.

I kno how u feel. In a weird way, i was planning to take the DAT in may, the day after i take my orgo II final, because i wanted to apply for the next cycle. "meaning i would complete undergrad in 2.5/3 years". That planned changed when i got into firefighter academy. :o. still wanna be a dentist, but im just taking it easy im already ahead might as well enjoy these "golden years". This is what i would do and what i have been doining the past month w/orgoI and 2 upper level bio courses, so i havent really dedicated much to DAT. Take ur old bio book, chem and rogo book, and review all the terms in the glossery, dont read nothing just loko at the figures and graphs alot of it speaks for itself, if u dont remember something skim over it, and do ALL THE REVIEW PROBLEMS IN THE BACK, thats too much, do one for eeach concept, and you shoudl be able to finish it in a month if you give it a good 6 or 8 hours a day. Gluck with everything, and just remember dont beat urself up over it, if u dont get in then maybe ur destined to get into a different school. I personally would take as many practce tests as possible. Know where ur messing up and review those concepts. BEST OF LUCK. and keep posting questions and answering posted Question it WILL help alot. :):thumbup::thumbup:
