View Full Version : Are these MCAT scores good for a high school sophomore?
marina1993 11-03-2008, 09:14 AM I want to be a Pediatrician in the future and now im preparing for college even though I still have three more years before i make it to college and seven more years until i make it to Medical School. I am 14 years old and a High School sophomore. I took the MCAT for the first time today on aamc.org and i recived a 13/15 on the Verbal Reasoning, 6/15 on the Physical Sciences, and a 7/15 on the Biological Sciences. Are these MCAT scores good enough for a High School student?
ChubbyChaser 11-03-2008, 09:15 AM Pretty miserable if you ask me, but dont give up yet...you might can look into a foreign medical school.

Considering you should know absolutely nothing about the sciences right now, and that verbal reasoning is the hardest to simply improve through studying...I'd say you're on track for an awesome MCAT score. Meanwhile, spend less time preparing for med school and more time having fun =)

Lies all lies....I started preparing for the mcat when i was 8:rolleyes:
Bacchus 11-03-2008, 09:24 AM If this post is real I don't think you should be asking about your MCAT score and use the internet more wisely to place you into an accelerated high school academy, especially if you're a 14 y/o sophomore.

So then what where your MCAT scores?
ChubbyChaser 11-03-2008, 09:26 AM So then what where your MCAT scores?
when I was 8? 14, 7, 10
They call me one-upper
marina1993 11-03-2008, 09:31 AM when I was 8? 14, 7, 10
This was my first time taking the MCAT so I didnt really know how it would be like plus I am only a high school sophomore and I dont get chemistry until next year and physics untill I am a high school senior, that is the reason for my low MCAT scores.

8... isn't that a little old to decide on medicine? You will never be a good doctor. I decided to become a physician when I was 6 months, and took my 1st practice MCAT at 1 year old.

Its ok, atleast you are confident about your abilities, but by the time you apply a 40 mcat score might be pretty mediocre, so study hard.

I study as hard as I can. I hardly have any time to study because high school classes and homework take up most of my time and when I do get time to study I dont have much time to study (usually only one hour a day)

you need to step your game up. Think "high school classes & homework" vs. "the all-important MCAT-- key to your dream of being a pediatrician." You gotta set your priorities.
Dr.Clippers 11-03-2008, 09:44 AM 14? 8? I started earlier. My parents would play Audio Osmosis on my mom's stomach before I hit the 9 month birth mark.

I believe I would have scored higher in the VR section back in my high school years than I could now.
NJDIF 11-03-2008, 09:58 AM this is the saddest thing i have ever seen here. ever. hands down. no contest.

I agree, it's very unfortunate to see a couple posters get duped by poor troll attempts.

Really? I still thought I was going to play Division I basketball at 14! This girl did better at 14 than I did on my first practice exam (if this is real).

Dude, if you are studying for the MCAT at age 14 you are not meant to be a doctor. There is more to life than studying, especially at your age. Preparing for the MCAT at 14 is an awful way of allocating your time and will prepare you better than someone who studies for the MCAT at the end of their sophomore year.
You need chill.
Man this thread is awful.

Damn!
Well done, OP, well done
supergirl87 11-03-2008, 10:06 AM your score is pretty good for someone who hasn't even taken all of the basic sciences. don't stress out over this now. when you are in college, you will devote about a year (maybe a bit more, maybe less) to studying for the mcat. if you start now, you will burn yourself out by the time you take the test. in the meantime, enjoy high school, study for your SAT, do a few meaningful extracurriculars, and focus on getting into a good undergrad. and once you are in college, do well in your science classes and make sure you are really understanding the material. the rest will fall into place. good luck :luck:
RySerr21 11-03-2008, 10:10 AM HAHAHAAH. this is awesome.

Doesn't the pink font make it obvious?

RySerr21 11-03-2008, 10:34 AM troll or not, this may have just started a new generation of gunners that we have never seen before......next thursday on "The Life: Stories From a High School Pre Med"
Thrombomodulin 11-03-2008, 10:57 AM The sad thing is, there are probably people out there like the OP. We need a new word, as "gunner" is no longer adequate to describe these people.
Oh, I almost forgot: :troll:

I don't wanna hear any excuses! Just pull your Sciences up STAT!
BennieBlanco 11-03-2008, 11:30 AM Those scores are awful. I am an 8th grader and scored a 14 on verbal, a 14 on BS, and a 15 on PS.
I've never even taken Ochem or physics, so I was surprised with my results. My GPA is only a 3.98 though, so I think I'm screwed.
I also whimsically took the GRE (scored 798) and the LSAT (scored 180).
My parents encouraged me to get my pilot's license last year (which I did) and I am a practicing pharmacist on weekends and during the summer.
Caesar 11-03-2008, 01:44 PM Okay, Okay we get it, many of you think the OP is a troll and instead of addressing the question have decided to post your own exaggerated claims. Now that it has been sufficiently done, lets move on. If you don't like the topic, find another thread, we have literally thousands of them. :)

It would be nice, but I'm highly skeptical of the validity of the OP's claim. I suggest current HS students not invest too much into this thread.

No cancer research?
Kaustikos 11-06-2008, 02:11 PM No cancer research?
Research? What research? He cured it like a simple math problem
1 + 1 = 2
Thus
My compound + cancer patient = no more cancer.

Well spoken. If you are in high school, I implore you to take small steps in your transition to college and the premedical journey. The MCAT is a step much further down the immense road you will walk (or perhaps stroll, but not sprint).
