When double bond attacks HX. There is a planar intermediate where Br can attack from either side making a racemic mixture.

The other answer choices did not have a double bond and hence you can't really get any sort of a racemic mixture.

Gotcha...i just thought the explanation was wrong. But now that i got the racemic concept, who gives! lol..thnx doc.
