I just got this e-mail from NYU:
Dear Applicants,
Thank you so much for your application to the NYU School of Medicine Residency Program.
We would like to inform you that we are no longer reviewing applications as we near the end of our interview process. Thank you again for your interest in our program and we wish you good luck!
Best,
NYU Residency Program
Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but it seems like they didn't even review my application. What do you guys think?

Typical response from nyu. I give them credit though. They are one of the few universities that make no bones about telling the applicant you suck and we'd rather close down in a blaze of fire than admit you into our program. This goes for their undergrad and grad programs in all fields.

That's just a typical rejection email.
You don't know if they reviewed your application and you didn't make it to the interview, or you just didn't make it past any filter(s) they might have. It doesn't really matter.
Just suck it up and move on.

I think programs continually review applicants. First they give interview invites to people that they love. Then they give it to people that they like. Then they give it to people that might be okay maybe. Finally they are left with a bunch of crappy applications that they don't know what to do with so they take them all and burn them on a barge in the east river. I think that's where mine ended up.
If only there was a way to take applications like yours and like mine and then slice them up and create securities. Perhaps then we could find a way to pool them properly (maybe get a triple A rating) and sell them back to NYU or maybe even Wall street.

At least you heard something...I'm still waiting on about 5 or 6 schools that I have heard nothing from...which I assume means rejection. Still waiting on NYU too. So maybe that email is in my not too distant future as well.
