step 1 249, AOA, honors in medicine and sub-I, and fortunate to have interviewed at some great IM programs. just got step 2 ck which was a 240. would you guys release ck or just leave it be?
thanks! my dean's office and advisor have different opinions...
on a related note: i'm told that you dont need ck to be ranked. however, do people who provide ck tend to be ranked higher on the ROL than those who choose not to release scores?

Regarding your statement about the rank list, there have to be a multitude of confounding factors that could account for that finding. For example, people who release almost certainly have higher scores than those who don't release. Further, people who have higher scores likely scored higher on shelf exams and thus probably have higher clinical grades. So I would definitely take that with a grain of salt..

good points; any thoughts on the first question?

No clue. I think you're totally in that grey area where it neither helps nor hurts you, given that cut-offs for most of the top places seem to be step 1 >230ish.

Especially after you have interviewed I cannot imagine that your step 2 scores will matter at all. Considering that you did well on step 1 they wont care either way. Id just release your scores.

No one cares. Step scores are pretty much used only to gauge who should be interviewed at most places. No program in their right mind would say "Oh my God, his step score went down 9 points". I think it really won't matter.

people are ranked without CK and CK or not CK does not effect your ranking.

Well they both are "99" so how much harm can it do ... IF ANY ....your scores are awesome and I don't think it is going to matter much ... your score is within the standard error of USMLE ...so just release your score and be at peace.. it is not like you got 182 (or whatever the passing score is)
Good luck with ROL :luck:

you have a pretty solid step 2 score, but i wouldn't send additional information to programs this late in the game, unless it would send some type of "wow" factor. your step 1 score is perfectly fine, and they'll likely just go off of that.

The answer is that it doesn't matter. But if I were you I would release it because I would have nothing to hide (240 isn't too shabby).

It's not going to matter. All your step scores, your grades, etc. are all high. It won't matter in your case. I don't think you particularly need to release it, though.
