I am enrolled in the Kaplan online course and I took the diagnostic in Jan 2009 and I got a 14!!! I've been studying, and it with school full time, it is pretty tough. Can I break 30 by June 18th?

Of course you can! It will take discipline and hard work, but I definitely think it is possible. I only got a 19 on my kaplan diagnostic and I haven't taken the mcat yet, but my scores have been steadily increasing. Our kaplan teacher knew of other students at who scored 19-21 on their diagnostic with kaplan and then scored 38+ on their mcats. I do not think my score will increase by that much but I am confident that I can score a 30+. The kaplan diagnostic is not always a good predictor. First of all, it is before you have reviewed content thoroughly and it is not a full length test. In addition, Kaplan wants to make their diagnostic hard so that they can offer a "higher score guarantee." Best of luck!

Your best strategy would be to not worry about the diagnostic and instead use it as momentum to keep studying. Jan was awhile ago. Have you improved since then? Keep up with the Kaplan material and you will do fine. I had a 21 on my diagnostic and a 31 on my second Kaplan practice test so it is definitely doable. Also I think the area that people improve the fastest is the verbal reasoning. Do passages as much as possible to get used to critical reading and dissecting passages but adopt a strategy that works for you (not necessarily Kaplans).

Thanks guys. That makes me feel better. From what I am reading, practice makes perfect. Also, should I be worried about the topical and subject tests. Or should I only be concerned about the full length practice tests. On the quizzes and tests, I get from 80%-30 percent in organic.

lol of course you are going to do bad on that diagnostic. That diagnostic is designed to make you want to take their course.

If you want to get the most out of the course, follow the syallabus to the teeth. Do the topical homeworks even though they are only "strongly recommended". Don't just do the required stuff. This is your career we are talking about. Put all of your energy in a course you spent 1700+ for.

Go LaurenGirl!

Thanks dude! I should mention that I'm trying to get into the Quebec (Canada) universities Pre-Med programs that don't even require the MCAT, but admissions are so competitive that I wrote the MCAT in case I don't get in and have to do an undergrad degree then apply (thus needing the MCAT).
All would be good except the fact that stupid, stupid me only found out that I did the MCAT a little too early in that case: MCAT score only being valid for 3 years (I thought it was 5 but no, it's down from 5 to 3!) so in the case I don't get into pre-med then I have exactly the amount of time required for a Quebec undergrad degree before my score expires, which obviously I don't want it too.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the input.

I'm using kaplan online and examkrackers, and I finishd reading all the chapters for examkracker for bio, chem, and orgo and Kaplan for physical sciences. I just took a kaplan Full length 01 and I got a 14! What am i doign wrong, and should I take only AAMCS and redo them over and over. I read on the 30+ habits that one guy only did AAMC's and he got a 43 by doing all the AAMCS three times and taking notes on what he did wrong everytime. What do you think i should do. I'm stressing out and my test date is July 30th!

My Kaplan diagnostic was so terrible that I don't want to even talk about it. Don't pay much attention to it. Just continue studying.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it; apparently I jumped 13 points from the diagnostic to the first FL i took. I agree that they probably just want you to take their course..

got a 27 on their diag and a 40 a few days later on a full-length so yeah Kaplan kinda sucks.
