I believe a hamartoma is just a growth of local tissue. The word hamartoma is used to separate it from a "heterotopia" which is a growth of tissue in a place it doesn't belong. quietude 06-09-2009, 02:35 PM What is a hamartoma? My only association with hamartoma is "coin-shaped cartilage lung lesion in a young person." SnowTown 06-09-2009, 04:41 PM i remember hearing goljan say that a hamartoma is an overgrowth of local/native tissue (peutz-jeghers) and a heterotopic rest is stuff at where it's not suppose to be (gastric stuff in mickel's diverticulum) |
