Hi - Need your suggestion/help to get into Nephrology Fellowhsip

I am completing my IM Residency next month. I applied last year but most of the programms were asking for Clinical exp. which i don't have, so, i did not apply for fellowhip this year. i am trying now to do research for an year and apply for Nephrology fellowship next year.

Can you please suggest How to find a research program in nephrology. ? or it is already too late to even look for a research program. ?:confused:

Could you clarify the question/situation? I think I may be missing something and just want to be sure we're all on the same page before offering advice...

So, in your PGY-2 year, you applied for a nephrology fellowship? What clinical experience did the programs request and why would that have been a barrier? Wouldn't the clinical experience be "covered" by being in residency?

And when you say research program - do mean like a "completely" research/post-doc-type program without any clinical work?

hi adam6 - Thanks for the reply. Typo in last post, The programs were asking for research exp or any publications which i don't have.

So, I am looking for research ( clinical or basics science ) in nephrology to get into fellowship eventually.

Please advise.
