Are there any sources of funding specifically for IM residents that we can apply for if we have a project in mind?

The AMA has a resident award (http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/about-ama/ama-foundation/our-programs/research/seed-grant-research.shtml)(not limited to IM)

Many of the IM specialty societies have grants. The ACR is one, for example (http://www.rheumatology.org/ref/awards/rrp.asp).

The ABIM foundation does give small grants (http://www.abimfoundation.org/research/duffy.shtm), but only for quality improvement projects (and per their description, ? only for those that use their PIM's, which they charge for, so I find this quite entertaining).

Many programs have internal grants you can apply for.
