Hey, I'm just wondering, how many hours a day/week you study for the MCATS?

Now that I only have a little more than a month, I want to average close to 7 hours/day. 10 hours on the days I take practice exams.
Also, its never about the quantity of hours you put in, but the quality of your study.

Also, for how long have you been studying/planning on studying for the MCAT? A year in advance? 3 months in advance? Etc.

I study about 10 hours a day, but in reality, it's only about 2.5 hours.

THIS x10... I wake up at like 1 pm lol... and study till 11... BUT, most of the time, i get up, get some food, watch TV... go online (waste time in this forum:p) and out of that 10 hours, only 3 hours is me sitting and absorbing material and doing problems.

er actually, count me in on that. i'm studying so much that essentially the whole day typically goes into studying, at least when i don't have class, but how many hours of actual learning? No clue, pretty sure it varies a lot.

here's a good question: has sdn been more helpful or more harmful (in wasted hrs) in studying for the MCAT?

I find myself hitting the books four hours a day. If I break it up into sessions, I manage well. (For instance, I will turn on the tv briefly for 15 to 20 minutes every time I finish an online lesson.) I don't know how people can stare at those books more than two hours at a time.

agreed. I def. need a break after at least two hours otherwise material just starts to go "in one ear out the other".

I'm glad I'm not the only one who pisses the whole day away...

On average I might be able to pull maybe 3 hours a day, I really want to do more though. Any advice for a guy that has an aversion to studying? I literally yawn whenever I open a book(I'm not kidding). I am starting to think I have ADHD, I just can't focus. Incidentally I've done well on every full length which doesn't encourage me to get any more serious.

It's the beginning of July now, and I write on Sept. 11. I only really study around 3hrs, sometimes up to 5 or 6 hrs a week. However, I had to take the last two weeks completely off because I've been in and out of the hospital with shingles and stupid doctors now telling me my appendicitis a month ago was a misdiagnosis, so i'm still getting tests done. I also work 40 hrs a week and have a volunteer position, although I only do that once every couple of weeks. Really, I have much more time than I'm putting in for studying, but it just takes much too much brain power. I am about 10 chapters through the biology section, and I honestly don't even remember what I've read. Please do not follow my ways because I am sure to bomb this exam.

I'm taking it August 24th (maybe pushing back to September 2nd) and am putting in 6-8 hours per day. On days I have off I put in 12ish.

It seems like alot but everything goes soooo slowwww =(

Hopefully it pays off. Come on 30+!!
