I just got my mcat scores back last week. I got a 34, P14, B12, V8.
I have a 3.76 GPA. I got about 300+ hours of non-medical volunteering, and around 200+ hours of medical volunteering and shadowing. I was an exec on the student council for three years so I think I got the leadership part covered. However, I have only done one summer of research, but I have a job in the lab for the rest of the year.
My verbal score is pretty low and I don't know if I should wait a year, retake and apply. Or should I just apply year ? Any advice would be good, thank you very much.

Your ECs are pretty good. Your stats are otherwise pretty good. I think you'd have a chance of success if you apply at this time of the cycle, but likely to less-selective schools that you'd have a chance at if you waited until June 2011. When you're picking schools, check the MSAR, and make sure that not too many of them have a bottom tenth percentile for VS of 9 or higher. And if you decide to proceed, do not procrastinate. Get your application submitted as soon as possible.
Why do you think your VS is low?

I heard things about if your verbal is not on or above a 10, you won't meet the interview cut-off. I wonder if it's just rumors...
I feel like my science scores are very solid, but I don't really know how they will look at my verbal...

And an SDNer got into Harvard last year with a 9, so there went that rumor.

NYU-small chance. Sinai-less likely (bottom 10th %tile for VS=10, and more selective).
