Hello,

I am a medical student. I wanted to know the options available to someone after completing a residency in a combined IM/Psych program. Do physicians who have completed a combined program generally work in both fields or end up working in one field?

What about salaries? Do physicians who have graduated from a combined IM/Psych program make more than someone who has only done IM or just Psych?

I was curious about these questions and thought I would ask. Thank you.

Here's what a few IM/Psych Physicians had to say. Jane Gagliardi, M.D. of Duke University also did a fantastic presentation on the survey she's been gathering. The majority of those polled are practicing both on a varying degree of levels. Most were happy with their choice of dual training.

They predominately do one of the 2 fields (usually psych), or they do both in an academic setting, or they go on and do a fellowship (I know several IM/psych docs who have done sleep)
