My aadsas status didn't change, it still says invited for interview though. How about you guys? :D:D Lausmart 12-01-2010, 06:14 PM Do you guys know from the interview at UIC that how many people will get accepted in the school in Dec 1st. What is the chance for whom still wait for an interview? Sean Shukoor 12-02-2010, 09:51 AM First off, I'd like to go ahead and congratulate the class of 2015. You guys have worked so hard and you have now actually made it in! So give yourself a pat on the back:highfive: For those that interviewed pre-dec at UIC, please correct me if I am wrong. UIC has only contacted their "accepted" people, right? Did anyone else hear otherwise, like of UIC e-mailing or calling about getting waitlisted or, God forbid, rejected? I interviewed pre dec but I haven't heard anything from them and my status has been the same (invited for i-view and i-views are by invitations only? Anyone care to shed some light? Thanks IIRC, dean of admissions said they don't reject people... they just keep them on file and continually review the apps for the rolling admission after Dec 1. But if you don't hear from them by March/April, an acceptance is highly unlikely. ThePreDentLife 12-02-2010, 02:11 PM This is the day I've been dreaming of for years. It finally happened. Thanks orangeandblue 01-11-2011, 05:40 PM Hey everyone, I'm trying to weigh the pro's and con's of MW vs UIC, its a tough decision for me, and although I love the idea of brand new facilities at MW, I am intrigued by the location and reputation of UIC. Is anyone else in the same boat? Thanks EvDDS 01-11-2011, 05:50 PM I love the idea of brand new facilities at MW as well, but, i'd rather spend ~100,000 less for tuition at UIC. Hey oralcav, I interviewed the same day as you. :) I'm dying for news too! In another thread I read that a person that interviewed back on October 25th got an acceptance yesterday...so maybe that's good news for us and our interview group might hear soon cuz it may mean the adcoms have met recently? I definitely don't want to bug them by calling someone there and asking, though it's tempting... Congrats to everyone else that got accepted! And wishing luck for the rest of us! sigmachi66 01-13-2011, 04:21 PM FYI - I just interviewed today at UIC and the official word is that 41 of the 60 in-state spots have been filled...so there is still 19, or nearly a third still waiting to be filled! Furthermore, the admissions staff told us (interviewees) that the next admissions committee meeting to make official acceptance decisions will take place in mid to late February, so I guess we have to be patient! Also, they told us interviewees NOT to call or email them surrounding our admissions status...so again, be patient! :) ajewfromboca 01-20-2011, 01:14 PM FYI - I just interviewed today at UIC and the official word is that 41 of the 60 in-state spots have been filled... Did they mention how many students had been accepted from out of state/how many were left to be taken? Thanks sigmachi66 01-20-2011, 01:21 PM So, in case you are not aware, there are 60 spots reserved for in-state residents (3 or 4 of which are reserved for some early guaranteed acceptance program). There is a total class size of 66, so 6 spots are reserved for out-of-state applicants. It was my understanding (from my interview on the 13th of Jan.) that our group of 6 or so out-of-state applicants were the first to be interviewed, and I got the impression that there would be a total of approximately 25 OOS applicants interviewed. So, there are still 6 spots out of 6 total spots still waiting to be filled when the committee convenes in mid to late Feb. Hope I answered your question! :) ajewfromboca 01-20-2011, 01:40 PM So, there are still 6 spots out of 6 total spots still waiting to be filled when the committee convenes in mid to late Feb. :) So i Know for sure that one girl from maryland (DDSCHICA) got accepted. So I am pretty sure you are incorrect about there being all 6 spots still available for out of state students.....Also I am from Florida and I was interviewed on November 4th. Good luck, hopefully we will both hear soon sigmachi66 01-20-2011, 01:42 PM So, then 5 out of 6 still remain....unless you hear otherwise! Sorry about that! I guess I got some mixed messages when I was contacted by the school, with them saying that they were now starting (Jan.) the OOS interviews. Either way, I wish you good luck! :) ajewfromboca 01-20-2011, 01:53 PM Sigmachi, If you don't mind me asking what were your stats? Obviously I understand if you don't want to tell me sigmachi66 01-20-2011, 05:13 PM I don't really want to give exact numbers, but they were on par or slightly above the previous matriculating class. FutureDDSchica 01-20-2011, 06:48 PM So, then 5 out of 6 still remain....unless you hear otherwise! Sorry about that! I guess I got some mixed messages when I was contacted by the school, with them saying that they were now starting (Jan.) the OOS interviews. I am not taking it seriously. The housing department probably sent it to all applicants (whether they are accepted or not) or made a mistake. dentallover 01-31-2011, 03:15 PM Yes, I receive both emails, the waiting list and the campus tour. EvDDS 02-09-2011, 02:45 PM congrats evDDS, i'm on the waitlist as well. did she mention anything else regarding acceptances? No not really. But apparently the waitlist is somehow ranked, even though they said in the email that they don't do rankings. And i have 15 days to respond, so it's the same as it is for everybody else that gets an acceptance right away. I was really shocked to hear from them so quickly, I thought that the waitlisted people wouldn't be contacted for another couple months.. dentallover 02-09-2011, 05:41 PM Congrats EvDDS!!! Are you out of state? bigboyrick2009 02-09-2011, 06:27 PM Would you say that if you are in state and interviewed after Dec 1, and still have not heard anything about the waitlist, your chances of acceptance are slim. Especially knowing that if you are not accepted they leave your file on hold until april/may? gtazn15 02-10-2011, 09:47 AM I interviewed on Jan. 20th and haven't heard back yet. I heard that they made their second round waitlist on the 11th of Feb. Anyone know? When should I start worrying? ajewfromboca 02-12-2011, 10:33 AM When I call UIC, it seems like no one ever gets back to me. They say don't leave multiple messages but after a few weeks i call back again. Were you on the waitlist or did u get interviewed and then accepted? thanks dentallover 02-13-2011, 10:34 AM I interviewed on 01-18, placed on waiting list a week after and accepted 02-11. She said that I was removed from the waiting list to be accepted but nothing else about the waiting list. I recommend you to call her. bigboyrick2009 02-14-2011, 08:00 PM I'm getting pretty worried. I interviewed mid January and am in-state. I have not been put on the waitlist or heard back...so I'm assuming they will just keep me around and then reject at the end of the cycle? I thought the interview went REALLY well, but I guess not. I know they said not to call, but do you think they would be that bothered by one call. UIC is my last chance, so If im not getting in I would like to know so I can make plans for next year... dentallover 02-15-2011, 10:59 AM I think you should call Braulia. She is very nice. Talk to her and let her know that UIC is your first and only one option and that you really want to go there and be part of Class 2015. Dentite21 02-16-2011, 10:42 AM I'm getting pretty worried. UIC is my last chance, so If im not getting in I would like to know so I can make plans for next year... If you don't mind me asking, why is UIC your only option? I am not sure calling would help your chances and may come off a bit desperate. I would try to phrase it differently if you were to call. Perhaps you have a "special" circumstance. bigboyrick2009 02-16-2011, 10:59 AM well i am on another alternate list that doesn't see much movement, so its my last chance of getting in unless i get more interviews which i doubt. But it really is my top choice for a variety of reasons. It seems like the chances are slim right now based on the impression i got. People are selected off the waitlist for open spots. Unless you interview within 2 weeks of an acceptance you won't be accepted unless its off the waitlist. Lausmart 02-23-2011, 12:09 AM Does anyone know whether they will offer more interview? I'm still waiting for an interview invitation. Do they say anything in your interview when the last interview round will be? Good luck everyone!!! sfkhan7797 03-01-2011, 10:36 AM When I called the admissions counselor with a question, she told me that the class is full and only if an enrolled student decides not to go to UIC then they will fill the empty seat from their waitlist. dentalhopeful25 03-04-2011, 07:57 AM When did you speak with the counselor? I interviewed in mid January and haven't heard from them since so I can assume that I have not been accepted? ihopeigetintods 03-04-2011, 10:06 AM I think they would call you if you were accepted. chiDDS 03-21-2011, 06:41 PM Hey Guys! The past classes haven't had to. I think the tuition just went up. We start orientation the 9th of August. Bummer the cost went up so much :( sfkhan7797 07-09-2011, 10:42 AM I got a very unexpected and surprising call from Carolyn yesterday saying that I have been accepted into UIC. I had been dying to get in, but since I was placed on a waitlist, I prepared my mind for MWU-IL. I have to reply by Tuesday. I had some questions, maybe someone can answer them. Does the D1 class have summer classes ? On the tuition sheet, there is no tuition for the D1's summer session so I was thinking that maybe we will be on break. Does UIC give a laptop? MWU is giving a macbook pro. Since the curriculum has changed, I dont know much about how the classes will be. Carolyn said the class had a mini orientation. Do you guys know how the schedule will be daily? If any of you can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Zack Attack 11-02-2011, 11:24 PM Hi Everyone, I'm coming down to UIC for an interview on Tuesday Nov 15th and I would love to talk with a couple of you dental students while I'm visiting. We'll go to lunch maybe and chat for a bit! (or just hang out around the school) I'll be available after the interview day is over, so around 2-3pm I bet. I'm from Skokie, went to Niles West for HS, and I'm at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI now. I'm sure a lot of you were in my position -you were excited but wanted to find out everything you could about the school. I'd love to get a little group together, 2-5 people would be awesome, but the more the merrier. If you're friendly with any upperclassmen, feel free to invite them too. Thanks everyone, message if interested. Lol First responder gets treated to lunch (if we really meet). Also can someone tell me who the class presidents are? -For Frosh, soph, and junior classes would be great. woof44 11-03-2011, 04:15 PM the dental students talk to you as part of the interview day, and they have food provided. just letting you know. |
