I made the mistake of having my stuff mailed to my parents in New York because I thought it would be faster. I guess having it sent to Montreal would have let me know by now. So at this point I don't know if I got into NYU yet, just that pesky we sent your decision by mail e-mail. So right now its BU, but I'll dwell on it further if I get accepted to NYU. Congrats though man! Representing the Canadian schools!

I got my letter today and boy have I been waiting haha...I stalked the mail man December 1st and seriously ran him down after he passed my street twice. I had to call my house from work to see if he finally got to my house and...nothing. So today when it came I almost started crying haha. I live in California and interviewed way back in October. This is my second time applying and I only had one interview last year. I leave tomorrow for my UPENN interview. I'm so excited to know that I'll finally be started on my career as a dentist. Congrats to everyone else and hang in there those who are still waiting :thumbup:

Acceptance came today! I'm so happy, I actually cried (very rare for me). This means we are actually on our way to becoming dentists, it's really happening!!! I am so relieved right now, I don't even want to stress over finals.

I got in yay! I'm torn between Midwestern in AZ and NYU. I really liked Midwestern but NYU is giving me $30,000 a year in scholarships which basically covers the living expenses...any advice?

I'm not sure what a URM is, so I'm guessing I'm not one lol. I'm not really sure how their scholarships work, I just got the letter in my acceptance packet. It said it was based off of my academic performance, and as long as I maintain a 3.2 GPA while in school I will get it all four years.

I interviewed on Friday, and Dr. Mejia said that they would make decisions on 12/13-17 interviewees on Friday, but letters would not be sent out until Wednesday. Hope this helps!

I thought everyone who interviewed either receives a letter (waitlist) or a package (acceptance). I don't think anyone who interviewed gets rejected this early but rather placed on waitlist.

No. From reading previous threads, it seems that they will gladly resend the mail if it was lost but they will not let you know your status over the phone. It won't hurt to give it a try though.

I think that only applies for those who were suppose to hear back on Dec. 1st. People who interviewed Dec.6-10th just got the mail so if you interviewed the week after, I believe you'll receive it sometime next week.

The letters were printed on the 20th and the package itself has postmark date of the 21st. It looks like Dr. Mejia kept the promise of making sure we get the letters before Christmas! :thumbup:

Interviewed on the 14th of Dec and got in Dec 22nd but didn't get my mail until the 7th because I went home for winter break. Waited till now to post because I forgot :P Anyways, congrats on those who got in, especially those who were part of the dec. 14th interview group! Do you get a letter now if you are rejected and No offer has been made to you OR a letter means an offer ?

I am in Canada and I think it will be a while till that letter get to me but I know they have mailed a letter.

I got the decision via snail mail! We were told at the interview on Friday (Jan 28) that letters would be mailed out the following Monday (Jan 31), and I received it this morning (Feb 2). I live in NJ so that could be why I got mine quickly. Also, for international students Dr. Mejia was saying they ship it using overnight mail so hopefully that means international applicants will hear back reasonably quick as well.

Just got the offer letter. I am very excited about it.

no, but i talked to dr.mejia after the interview and she said that they tend to wait until feb. 1st for anything to happen (app deadline). she said it really depends on what the adcom decides to do.

Send an email in and ask for an update, they're pretty good about replying. I sent an email asking for an update back in december and got an interview invite not long after followed by an email confirming that my application was complete (yeah, the order of the emails had me confused too :P)

Interviewed on the 2/4/2011 Accepted on Valentines day! (2/14). I got a letter in the mail, and I'm from Cali so they probably accepted me much earlier. just mailed my deposit today

for those that wonder, you can get in to NYU with below a 3.0.

I graduated with a 2.67 (BS bio), then got a 3.7, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.9 in each post bac semester (all science classes)... bringing me to a 2.9 overall, science ~ the same. Also I came in to college as a Bioengineer, and did really bad in some ENGR classes which dropped my GPA a ton.

DAT: 19 Overall (15QR! but everything else was 18 or up), 20 Science (23 Ochem), and 21 PA. I'm a pretty good talker, and had a great interview... so that helped.

So you can get in, but you have to work your butt off. I recommend just doing well in your undergrad.

This is my Second time applying, so don't give up if you didn't make it.

Oh and I think I heard the Director of Admissions say that they are getting the last batch of applications in on Feb 1st (deadline), so it takes a while to sift through them and that we (the interviewee's on feb 4th) would probably here back, at the latest, by the start of march.

they do send overnite UPS for canadian acceptances. not snail mail. even if you get waitlisted don't worry..it moves right up until orientation starts. just be active and retake DAT's if that was your weakpoint. good luck. hope to see u there next august

Is the only source of the finance the banks ( Royal, TD, Scotia) or there are National or provincial loans available as well ?If you're in Ontario, you can still get OSAP grad student loans, though obviously it's not a huge amount, but it definitely helps.

When I interviewed 1/31, they said the class was half full. So at this point its either full, or greater than half full. It's possible you would be interviewing for a waitlisted spot.

they will only be able to really gauge the amount of space left after april 1st when the second deposit is due. a lot don't send it in because they were accepted elsewhere

All you can get is the max line of credit from the bank, then the government portion of OSAP (not the Ontario portion). It isn't too much but may cover like half of living costs - I'm not exactly sure how crazy expensive NYC is.

thought i would update those who are still waiting. one of my friends interviewed there today and she said that the class is pretty full but they definitely expect people to drop after the april 1 deadline. they are interviewing up until end of march. (im not sure about after that)

and for those that interviewed today, they were told to expect to hear back 2-3 weeks.

they are away next week on vacation, and the week after the adcom will meet and make a decision.

im not sure where that puts those who are on the waitlist, but maybe they will start finding out once the decisions for the interviewees have been made.

I think studio apartments are about $2200-$2500/month. About 20-25 mins of walk from Subway to school.

acceptances are UPS for canadians, and for americans it's via regular postal mail.

they are away this week on spring break and so we can't expect anything from them this week.

next week they come back, and so there should be some activity then. hopefully :xf:

If it was mailed out on Friday then it can get here anytime this week (regardless of package or mail it should take the same amount of time). I think you should continue stalking your mailman and post the good news here as soon as you get it! lol :laugh:

I didn't get anything today....so will wait for the mailman again tomorrow :)

No mail again today....even had a short conversation with the mailman about how long it usually takes.....so ended up calling the office again to make sure that they have my correct address. They're really nice about helping.

So I found out that the address they have is correct and I confirmed that it was mailed out last Friday.......so all I can do now is wait.

Everything is digital so you don't need to buy any books it's all on vita book. If you want to study ahead of time and you want some names I can get that for you. Let me know.

the NYU login has syllabi for previous years so thank you very much anyways :)

I am just wondering if buying books were necessary at all. If they were, I would just buy them early and study a little bit. Seeing how they are not directly purchased by the student, I think I will just spend the summer relaxing :cool:

Buying books is completely optional...to be honest, you can def get by with just the professor's lectures and taking notes...Vitalbook is nice but in most cases just used when you feel necessary
