I am looking at going into anesthesia and I would very much prefer to work in Arkansas, preferably in Conway or Little Rock. However, I never see any jobs posted online for anesthesia in AR. I always see FM, IM, and IM subspecialties posted (but that's to be expected).

Are there really ever a lot of jobs posted for physicians in general (rather than recruiting companies) or do you just get recruited throughout and at the end of your residency?

I don't want to get out of residency and have to move my family out of state to get a job in anesthesia.

Call the local groups and ask if they have a need, or expect to by the time you finish.

Would it actually be beneficial to call an anesthesia group at least 10 years before I would need a job (and not even in mrs school) to call and ask if they'll have an opening in 2021?

I was really asking what the outlook of jobs in AR looks like. There are almost never jobs for anesthesia posted but I'm about 95% sure if I did FM I would have no problem finding a job. Wondering how many people get out of residency and find a job in AR.
