when do we get to know the personal statement prompt? or will it just be the usual "why do you want to be a d.o. doc?"

I have questions about this school because I have heard mixed things...

1. How is the medical school structure with the unique learning pathways; does it work and help students ...meaning are students successful using their unique pathways of education?

2. How is the location of Erie, PA and Seton Hall, PA...Because I can look online and see details, but I want to hear about a student perspective...

You'll here mixed things about any school. LECOM's pathways are successful in teaching students in there desired learning habits. If you like lectures and that structure similar to undergrad then LDP is for you. If you didnt like lecture settings but preferred small groups PBL might be something you want. ISP is the way to go if you want free time. All pathways have good guidance during the year and good board scores. you just need to know what you want.

Erie, PA is Erie, PA. I only lived there for 2 years but i managed to learn how to ski during my stay. Winter can be tough but when you are in med school time flies so you hardly notice it. the spring and fall are nice while at presque isle for a nice little get away from studying. I wouldn't say you have to go out of your way to make Erie enjoyable, but there aren't many things to do in the area, however that makes it easier to study w/o distractions. I can't really say much about Seton Hill, I have never been down there.

There was no prompt last year. You filled out some info in the LECOM portal and then send the secondary application fee. Not sure if it will be like that this year.

When I sent in my app before my mcat I was put on MCAT hold status and I was not sent the secondary until the hold was taken off.

Good luck!

Alright. So, do you recommend that I still apply June first without my upcoming mcat scores. Or, should i wait until I get them to apply. Also, how long does it take to get scores sent to the schools in order to have my stuff processed. In other words, when is the earliest date that I can have an interview. Just want to know what my personal timeline is. Thanks for your input.

Not 100% sure if it makes a difference, I'm sure other people on the forum might have better advice on that. (FYI: people have been accepted here from march and April interviews)

Regarding the time it took to post.. I would say about 1-2 weeks, though it certainly feels longer while you are actually waiting.

Good luck and study hard

If you submit your application June 1st you can get verified so that when your scores get in it only takes about a week to update all the scores. If you wait to submit it may take a couple weeks or more to get verified.

The earliest interviews last year was one day in July and then it really started in August. If your scores don't come in until July the earliest you can probably get an interview is September.

Thanks guys. Slowly becoming familiar with the process.

From what I gathered, the best thing to do is submit June 1st and wait for scores to finalize the verification process. For now, I'll just keep studying and chill until those scores come in. :)

This is realistically my last full length summer. I must not waste it worrying over applications. Good luck with medical school everyone. Hope to be a part of this school next year :xf:

I know they look to see if you have the main prereqs - the 4 sciences and the MCAT. Without these, I dont think you get a secondary (I didn't get my secondary until after they got my MCAT)

I had to reapply a couple times. I kept most of my personal statement the same. I just added about what I was / was planning to do with my year while I was reapplying.

The first interview date last year was July 16th - really early! LECOM is really good about sending out a decision within two weeks which is very nice. As the app season gets later they seem to fall behind a bit but early in the season they seem to be pretty efficient.

LECOM did all group interviews last year so I assume they will do the same this year. It wasn't so bad because you have some time to think about what you are going to say while others are talking. It was also kind of interesting to see what the other applicants were saying. They asked all very standard med school interview questions last year.

So what would you say were the "very standard med school interview questions?"

Journey2become

So what would you say were the "very standard med school interview questions?"

"what is an obstacle that you have overcome in either school or work?"
"what is your greatest achievement?"
"what pathway would you choose and why?"
"where do you see yourself in 10 years?"
"what would you do if you don't get into medical school this year?"
"what makes an ideal/good doctor?"
"how would you balance the ideal doctor with hospitals/clinics wanting you to see the more patients in a shorter period of time and insurance companies not wanting to pay"
Ethics scenarios

probably should throw in:
"Why do you want to be a doctor?"
"What are the reasons you are drawn to this school?"

Then do have questions prepared to ask your interviews that you couldn't have gotten from doing a little research on the website. If you have few questions prepared in different areas and one of your interviewers happens to be the head of that department so much the better!

Hope this helps

Also if they do group interviews again be up to date on health topics. In my interview last year we talked about them for probably half the interview. Questions like 'is health care a right or a privilege?'

So I checked my portal for LECOM - Bradenton and under LECOM - Erie it said this:

"We have reviewed your application and are interested in you; however you have applied too late in the year to be considered. Please reapply starting in June for the next academic year."

I applied to LECOM - Erie kind of late last year. Does this mean I should try applying to Erie again? It's hard to get excited about re-applying to a school when you didn't get in the first time, but maybe I will this time.

I say you definitely re-apply. They are telling you they were interested. You could even call and ask if there was anything else that might have held you back. If you apply early and see if there was anything else, I would definitely bet that you get interviewed, and would probably even push some chips in on an acceptance.

Don't know really how to answer that. I waited a week after sending my LOR through interfolio until I called, they changed my info as LOR received 30 min later. BTW, you will be interviewing on my fifth day as a medical student, we will probably see you there:)

I am incredibly anxious. I think that being invited for early interviews is a great sign though. I have been looking over questions that people were asked in the previous years and getting an idea of what I would answer without rehearsing anything. There seem to be quite a few that show up over and over again. Namely, 3 positive traits you have and 1 negative. Why med school? Why DO school? Why LECOM? Quite a few people also seem to have been asked to describe a conflict that they have had with a person, or a variation, a conflict that they had with a professor. It does not seem like they are trying to nail anyone to the wall.

Agreed, I'm doing basically the same thing... just trying to get an idea of what I want to say if any of these types of questions are asked.. I'm extremely anxious as well! this is my first medical school interview, and I want to try and go in confidently. I'm hoping that the early invite is a good sign too! we must be doing something right.. let's just seal the deal with the interview and lock in an acceptance!

Can you tell me which thread you looked at for previous interview questions and such. I tried searching but I found ones that were about 10 years old.

Me too! I'm freaking out that it's actually almost here... just going to try not to hyperventilate whenever I start to imagine what the interview is going to be like! lol

It will be good! It's a very relaxed interview setting! Are there are several sample questions asked that are either here or in last year's LECOM application thread.
I would recommend doing some kind of physical activity the evening before the interview so that it can help relax you and most important helps give you a good night sleep. I also did a little swimming at the hotel which was also relaxing.
Eat breakfast - even if you don't feel like it!!! Drink fluids in the morning as well! Eat a good supper the night before so that you can have a lighter breakfast if you absolutely must. You won't be able to eat at the interview until lunch time because food is not permitted in the rooms you will be in.
They way they arranged it for us last season was to have different presentations first, pathways, the school, etc. Then we broke down into groups for the interview. First they asked each person to introduce themselves, then they asked each one of us an individual question (2X). Lastly they just brought up different topics and whoever had anything to comment on it could. Then we had a tour (I believe) then lunch with students. Then it was over!

hope it went well for those who interviewed yesterday!!!

anyone mind sharing their day:
which hotel they stayed at, if you flew in from a different state- how did you get to the hotels from airport (which airport) and vice versa, did you use the shuttle system the hotels provide.

how did the actual interview go (i'm assuming it was group since it was the first one), what kind of questions were asked (if you don't mind sharing for future interviewers), stress-level, etc...

I'm asking about the travel because even though I read previous threads they don't mention or hone in on how all the transportation worked and I know people do not want to be late on interview day and bogged down by transportation when there is more important things to focus on!

So thanks in advance if you shared your thoughts. :D

I drove in from Ohio, so I don't have any useful airport information. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, and it was a pretty nice place. It was also just down the road from the school itself.

They put us in the cafeteria to wait for everyone to show up and everyone was pretty chatty/friendly. Then they collected us all and took us upstairs to lecture hall B, which is apparently the pharmacy lecture hall. We spent about an hour and a half hearing about the school, the town, the PBL pathway, etc. Afterwords they divided us up into 4 groups (35ish people total, so groups of 8-9 people). Each of the 4 groups had two interviewers and we meandered into separate rooms. My group ended up in a micro-bio lab because the room we were supposed to use had students in it.

They had us introduce ourselves. They said that they have not seen our file, so include anything that you want them to know about you. Most of us went with home town, school, volunteer experiences, and maybe another fact or two. Then every person was asked a single question that they alone had to answer. One girl was asked about a teacher that she didn't see eye-to-eye with and how she resolved it. That sort of thing. The last guy to answer was training for a triathlon, so they used that as segue to ask a group discussion question about if healthy people and slobs both equally deserve healthcare. I think that everyone got at least one point in. Then we had a chance to ask questions about the school. Some of us had questions and some didn't.

After the interview we went back to the lecture hall and listened to a presentation about financial aid. After the presentation we had to select the pathway that we wished to enter into as well as express if we want a decision about our status to be made immediately or not until December 16th. We handed in our papers and toured the building, ultimately ending in the lunch room.

People grouped together at different tables, and second year students sat and chatted with us for a while. I felt that this was the best time to ask questions that only a student would know. Things like, "Can you hear the teachers in the back of the lecture hall." "Are the teachers actually helpful?" "How do you feel about your pathway selection?" That sort of thing.

Then we were done. The whole experience was relatively non-stressful.

My advice is to be yourself, and if you can work it into your answer without making it awkward, it wouldn't hurt to include something about how osteopathic medicine is great.

Oh and did any interviewees have their spouses with them?

Several of the staff members throughout the process commented that they don't usually have to start wait-listing people until February or March. My best GUESS is that you just have to show up and not do anything particularly unfortunate and you should be fine. They wanted us to relax and just be ourselves (easier said than done). One guy said, "We want people as brilliant as Dr. House, but if you have his personality you can go home now."

I don't know about spouses. No one brought company into the building itself, but almost everyone seemed to have a ride picking them up. My mother was checking out the town while I interviewed and she picked me up.

A side note, EVERYONE except one person in the first group was wearing a full formal suit. Guys and girls alike. Some of the women had nice blouses under the suit jacket instead of a button up shirt, but they did wear a suit jacket. If you don't wear one, you will stand out, and probably not in a good way.

The school seems pretty legitimate. Every member of the staff that I met was absolutely friendly. I got a sense that they genuinely care about their students. They have an open door policy if you have any questions or need help with anything.

The building itself seems really new. The place is amazingly clean (probably due to the no food or drink outside of the cafeteria policy). The labs looked modern and clean as well.

The student that I chatted with during our lunch said that the school's tuition is so low because they don't pay money to their affiliated hospitals. They have affiliations based on reputation alone, which says good things about the school in my eyes.

Best I can tell, they give a solid education and you really get out of it what you put into it. I still hope to get some more interviews to compare schools, but if I am accepted to LECOM, I would not be disappointed what-so-ever to attend.

The time everyone took to answer varied. When I am nervous (and I was) I tend to talk faster than normal. So I got just as much information in as everyone else, but I took less time. I would say 2-3 minutes per answer was what most people were doing, though.

I am not sure what to tell you about a conflict with a teacher. There were questions that other people were asked that I would have had a difficult time answering the same way you would have time discussing a conflict with a teacher. I guess it is a sort of Russian Roulette with what question you get. I personally was asked to describe an accomplishment that I am particularly proud of and that helped to shape who I am today.

If I had never had a conflict with a teacher and they asked me to describe one, I would respectfully say that I was fortunate enough to never have run into that situation, but that I can describe a conflict with a boss/coworker/classmate/friend/someone. The people at LECOM seem really friendly and I would venture a guess that they would give you a little leeway.

. Glad to hear of your interview invite, I've been pulling for you ever since the underdog thread. You should be in the second (or third?) interview group which means you should have a strong chance of being accepted. Just try not to stress, and think of one or two legitimate questions that you could ask in your interview group. If you have time leftover they will probably just have you guys ask a couple of questions.

This is pretty much how I felt about the school when I interviewed. Add in extremely low cost of living (compared to what I'm used to). A ridiculously nice fitness center (which I now have zero time for) and knowing that the school seems to be doing everything they can to be a top tier medical school was enough for me. We had a few presentations where we learned that they have sent people to Cali and they're working hard for rotation sites in Cali (apparently they have some) and they are becoming affiliated with more and more hospitals. I have no idea why the school gets ripped on in here. I guess dress code is that big of a deal to people:confused:.

Does anyone know how many people (% of those who submit primaries) are selected for an interview? And then, what % of those who interview are accepted?

I couldn't tell you the numbers exactly, ~270 matriculants in Erie, no idea about Seton Hill (~100?). I can say that a huge majority of people that interviewed in July/August were accepted, I'd guess >90%.

Three more questions:
1) Are you saying that, besides telling something about yourself at the beginning and contributing to the group discussion at the end, each person only had one other question to answer?

2) Did each person get a different question?

3) Were people questioned in some kind of order or was it random?

I apologize for being silly about this; it's just that I've never been to an interview and have no idea what to expect.

Again, thanks for the help, and feel free to let me know when I'm being annoying. :p

2) Did each person get a different question?

3) Were people questioned in some kind of order or was it random?

1) It went like this: Introductions->Single Question for Everyone->Group Discussion->Questions for the Staff.
So, yes, everyone was only directly asked one specific question when I interviewed.

2) MOSTLY everyone received a separate question. They did repeat a question or two at some point, or alter the original question somewhat then pass it to another person.
(However, when they discussed how the interview would go, they SAID that after our direct question, we would all be given an opportunity to answer anyone's question that we think we would have a good answer to. They never actually got to this, but I suppose it could happen for you. So even after you answer your question, listen to other people's questions and think about them in your own context, just in case.)

3) When we were all asked to introduce ourselves, they just started at one end of the table and proceeded clockwise until we made a lap. Once they started asking specific questions, they randomly jumped around (I was the first person questioned for my group, but in the middle of the table). Then group discussion and asking them questions were both a free-for-all.

I hope that all of this helps.

This depends on your stats. If you have a 3.7gpa and a 37P MCAT, you will probably get one right quick. If you have a 3.0gpa and a 22N MCAT, you may be waiting quite a while. Of course EC's count too. It is really difficult to answer your question with what you have shared with us.

anybody else here receive a recruiting email to LECOM the other day?

Yeah. I had a good laugh with my co-workers because several days after I interviewed they are e-mailing me telling me I should apply. Admittedly, the same e-mail is how I heard of the school last year to begin with.

Yes. I went and checked my portal status after reading chizhang's post about his/hers. They have also made a decision on my application and now I get to wait by the mailbox every day and give the mailman dirty looks every time he doesn't bring my letter.

Hi all,

I was looking at the LOR requirements and saw that two science faculty letters and a DO are required (my university doesn't have a committee letter). Does anyone know how they classify science faculty? Is it just professors of biology, physics, and chemistry? I have letters from two biomedical engineering professors and one taught me in a class called Physiology for Engineers. I have called and emailed but haven't gotten a response. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to discussions about LECOM. Your posts are really helpful! In case this might be helpful for some people, I submitted my secondary on 7/7, file was complete on 7/20, and was invited for the 8/19 interview on 7/28. My stats are: overall 3.47; sci. 3.41, highest MCAT 28Q (VR 6, PS 12, BS 10).

Thanks for the sample interview questions and detailed agenda of the interview day! I have more questions, though:

How many interviewers are there? Who are they? The admission committee head and members and medical students?
Did any of them review your applications before the interview, or was it completely blind?
How did you answer questions like "Tell me about yourself?" Since it's very vague, where do you start? Do you talk about something NOT included in your application or re-illustrate some information in there?

Thanks a bunch!

2 Interviewers per group and it'll depend on who you're matched up with. A general description of your interviewers would be the faculty/administration of LECOM which can range from PhDs to DOs to MDs to the upper echelon of the administration.

Closed file interview, they know nothing about you except for what you tell them.

You begin that "vague" question however you wish. They really do want you to tell them a bit about yourself since they know nothing and how you approach that question should be unique as every person has their own special story. It's another way for them to know about your personality and more about you.

But he said that some ISP students fail their classes while the same isn't true for LDP. I hope at the very least that professors devote their attention to all students and that all pathways have similar pass rates and Step 1 scores.

Some LDP students fail classes too... Many people go in to ISP not realizing that it truly is independent study. You are given your books and a list of objectives to answer and have to do it on your own. If anyone had any questions they could go to the professors and ask (or look it up).

It is true that all pathways are similar in terms of scores & pass rates.

After clicking on the Admissions tab, the last option on the Admission Menu (left hand side) should be "Interview." Once you click that, you should be redirected to the LECOM Interview Portal, where they have instructions on how to schedule the interview.

The schedule has you there until 1PM, we were done in the ballpark of 12:30PM I think. Pretty much you are at lunch at noon, they take your nametag back, and you can pretty much leave when you want. I stayed and talked with the second year students that they provide to you for questions/discussion.

If you haven't submitted your primary yet to AACOMAS, I would pick a school that you're not super interested in going to and submit. That way they can get started on your verification process while you wait for your MCAT score. Then when you get it back, just add LECOM to the list, pay, and then it'll be submitted right away.

I'd say just try not to stress too much. I was worried because I didn't say anything substantial about universal health care when it came up in my group interview. Just make sure you say enough overall that they can see what type of person you are. Of course its great to talk more lol but if you can't get a word in about everything, don't sweat it.

Also listen well during the introductions to the learning pathways before the interviews (of course you should anyways if you want to go there) as it can provide you with a lot of material to ask about when they ask you for questions during the interview. Plus it's always nicer to have your questions answered in smaller groups than when you're with everyone in the auditorium.

I received my letter on the 12th of August and have until the 13th of September for my deposit to be received. Basically, they give you a month.

LastPolarBear, if you interview now, they give you the option to defer your decision until December 15th. That means they put your file in a folder and don't even look at it until then. MOST schools do give you until December 15th, but LECOM does it differently.

I couldn't tell you the numbers exactly, ~270 matriculants in Erie, no idea about Seton Hill (~100?). I can say that a huge majority of people that interviewed in July/August were accepted, I'd guess >90%.

There was an article on LECOM's web site that said 104 students were matriculating at SH this year. However, every time we get test scores back it says that there were 101 test takers. But, yes, about 100 down here at SH.

Congrats on all the early acceptances!

I remember the average MCAT being a 27 for this year's entering class. The GPA was something around a 3.4 I want to say, but I don't remember that number exactly. They were mentioning that their numbers were coming up to the average for DO schools around the country.

They will review your file. I'm missing 3 credits in Bio and I got an interview at Erie. You just need to complete the credits before matriculation.

Hey guys,

So after doing a little thinking and talking to current LECOM-E students, I'm starting to feel like PBL isn't the pathway for me... I ranked it first and was accepted into it, but I think LDP might be a better fit for me.. I'm a very structured kind of student, and am afraid that I might get lost and fall behind in the independence of PBL.. I emailed an admissions counselor at LECOM-E about switching. What do you think my chances are of being able to easily switch to LDP since it is so early in the admissions cycle? If I have to stay with PBL, I'll do my best to adapt. But I'd feel way more comfortable with the thought of entering a traditional approach to the medical school curriculum. I picked PBL in the first place because it sounded exciting and interesting, but I feel like medical school is a bad place to try out a new learning method.. what do you all think about the chances of switching to LDP from PBL?

I doubt that you will have much trouble at all switching this early in the cycle. The student that I talked to at my interview said that it is much easier to switch PBL -> LDP than the other way around due to the relative number of positions in each pathway.

Just spent the last two hours at northeaster veterinary hospital with my dog. She possibly herniated a disc in her back, can no longer walk and can't tell where her limbs are. All in one day. She had a tiny limp this mourning. And now while I'm just hours away from my med school interview, I'm up at four in the mourning trying to decide what to do if my dogs pain does not subside after two shots of morphine. The vet said if we can't afford surgery (I can't) then we have to consider euthanasia. I'm so heartbroken right now. My little frenchie. She is only three and a half. Can't believe this and its happening so fast. I really hope her pain stops so we can think of other options.

It will be extremely easy. Everyone accepted has a seat for LDP. There are only waiting lists for switching FROM LDP to PBL and ISP, you wouldn't have any problem switching into LDP.

Hey Guys,

So my application status at Erie has been "under review" for five weeks now. I got an invite at Bradenton very quickly but still no word from Erie. I then decided today to check on my required letters and credits, and my D.O. letter and science letter are all tagged with red x's to indicate that they were not yet received. I'm pretty confused about this because my letters were delivered electronically via interfolio on 6/28 and I thought my application would not be under review unless I was complete. I can't seem to contact anyone in the admissions office about this matter. Anyone experience anything similar or able to shed light on this? Thanks!

Yes, mine has been under review for just as long and I cannot ever seem to get anyone to answer the phone there. What makes it even harder is I am on the West Coast, so I have less business hours to call them unless I decide to get up at 5am. ugh. *frustrating*

Hey guys I just had the lecom interview today and thought i'd give some feedback. they said we were the 2nd interview wave and that right now it'll be easy to get the pathway you want. The person said it gets a little bit tighter around January so don't stress.

Day went as this: Presentation on curriculum and diff pathways, then interview, then presentation on financial aid, then tour, then lunch with medical students.

Interview questions were straight from the 9 standard questions. My group had 8 people including myself and 2 interviewers. They first asked us to tell them about ourselves and to include in it why we want to be an osteopathic physician and why medicine. Then we each got asked an individual question. They repeated them and these were the ones that were asked in no particular order:

1. Where do you see yourself in 10-20 years and how would you use osteopathic education in it?
2. Name a difficult situation and how you overcame it.
3. What was a difficult time with a professor and what you did.
4. Say a story about an inspirational, positive professor.
5. What is your proudest accomplishment?

Then we were supposed to have a group discussion, but time ran out and we just skipped to asking them questions.

If anyone was there, I was in group C and we re-located two times! haha

Good luck to future interviewees! Don't stress too much; it's fairly laidback as everyone has said before.

it's condensed into 3 years so you miss out on some stuff. for example, instead of having 24 rotations you would only have 16. Instead of 3 emergency medicine ones, you'd only have one since you're going into primary care. that's all I know about it, but i'm sure the website has more info

Hey everyone, just wanted to give some info on today's interview session!

The interview was done in groups (as previously mentioned) and it is very laid back (also as previously mentioned). Our group was asked to introduce themselves and state an interesting fact and we were each asked one question. The questions I remember were:

Discuss a time you had a conflict with a professor and how you overcame it.
Discuss a time where a professor had a positive influence on you.
What are your greatest accomplishments?
Why osteopathic medicine?

There were more, but thats all I can remember for now. We were then supposed to proceed to the group question where they would ask a question and we could all respond but instead we all started to ask questions to the interviewers. We did this for about an hour and that took us to the end of the interview. It was friendly and we were all laughing throughout the interview, great experience! Let me know if you guys have any questions!

I think it is posted in the "Interview Feedback" section

From there:
1. Tell us something about yourself that is not in your file?
2. What is your biggest strength? What is your biggest weakness?
3. What experiences have you had with communications?
4. What is your leadership style and give us an example of when you feel you acted like a good leader.
5. Tell us a time when group work worked more favorably than working as an individual?
6. Tell us a time when you had to handle a conflict?
7. How do you handle stress and give us an example of a time when you effectively handled stress?
8. When did you first learn about osteopathy?
9. When in your life do you feel that an osteopathic approach would have been better than an allopathic approach?

I was also part of this group, very laid back. Way more time was spent with us asking them questions than them interviewing us. Great experience overall and it allowed us to get more of a sense of the school, and the interviewers were great.

Very general questions:
Tell about a time where you didn't see eye to eye with a teacher and how you overcame.
Explain a teacher that had a great impact on your life.
Where do you see yourself in 15 years?
Why osteopathy?
What was your greatest accomplishment and why?

They also asked about what area of medicine we thought we might practice.
The "tell me about yourself" part was more structured than I thought. Instead of just asking us to introduce ourselves, they specified things like where did you go to school, what research/clinical experience do you have, anything else we wanted to add, as well as "one interesting fact that a friend might not even know about you" which somewhat threw me off guard but I was one of the last so I had time to prepare and see what types of things others were saying.

Any questions, just ask!

thanks for the support man. Well, we got a second oppinion with our vet when we got home. Unfortunately, he told me the mri is just 2k and the surgery is about 3k. so I know my family and none of us can afford that kind of money. However, My vet said that we can at least try and treat her medically, and that sometimes that works out ok. So she has been on steroids for the last four days and believe it or not is making a pretty crazy recovery. she is now walking all the sudden? I am assuming that because we have her on painkillers she is feeling a lot better and the pain is masked. We are hoping the disc heals and that she can somehow regain a good quality of life. I am a little mad at the emergency vet that we went too. he made some pretty large assumptions, I mean my wife and I were hit pretty hard with this, he made it seem like there were only 2 options. I am very glad I got a second oppinion with my vet back home cause he gave us a tad more hope and she is responding to the treatment better than I could have imagined, is in no pain and althought we are not allowing her too (she is on strict bed rest) can walk around great. The night before my interview was tough to watch, she went from having severe pareses with her left leg to paralysis in her back legs within a 30 minute window. I honestly dont know what happened but shes doing better. its gonna be a long long road but we are almost 99% sure we have ruled out euthanization due to the fact that she has showed improvement (which was the determining factor, my vet said if she doesnt improve within the next 3 weeks then we could think of that option but shes respnded in the last 4 days). you are absolutely right, that would be tragic. but we are of the opinion that its selfish and unfair to keep a dog alive that has zero quality of life. Thanks to A lot of family prayer and her bieng the toughest little bulldog she is doing better.

all this aside, I interviewed on 90 minutes of sleep, so I hope I didnt do too bad lol. I was in group C with a lot of people on here. I hope I get in cause I absolutely loved the school and could definitly see myself there for the next four years. I was very very impressed.

thanks for the support SBB and GL on your interview.

And if you want to save money and don't mind staying at a crappy hotel, Days Inn will do. The room I stayed in had a funky odor and I couldn't open the windows because they couldn't be opened. They have a outdoor pool but I didn't use it. They did, however, give me a single room with a queen-size bed and there was a sofa and a coffee table + a desk. Their regular pricing is $249 /night for that room but I only paid $70 via LECOME's discount with them.

Everyone for LECOM-B just calls admissions and asks what the decision was... They have ALL been told yea-nay... soooo, I am not sure that it is impossible for you to call...

Erie and Bradenton aren't the same committees, so I guess Erie has more tight-lipped admissions people!

They probably are swamped anyway and don't want the burden of having to say yes/no to people :D

You should call, make up a fake name, and then hang up if they actually start searching for your file. Then call back with your real name. Then you find out either way, win win!

I doubt it would hurt your application. They probably would just tell you not to call again, or die.

Thanks so much for posting the interview questions! I am going to start practicing soon since my interview is on Sept 23, is anyone else going that date? I can't believe how people are already accepted, this is my first interview! Where is a good place to stay where I can walk to campus once I check in?

all this aside, I interviewed on 90 minutes of sleep, so I hope I didnt do too bad lol. I was in group C with a lot of people on here. I hope I get in cause I absolutely loved the school and could definitly see myself there for the next four years. I was very very impressed.

I only had about that much sleep when I interviewed a year ago and I got in. I was also really hungry and it was really hot. Miserable day.

Anyway, I hope your dog pulls through and you get an acceptance letter. :xf:

Has anyone seen this before on LECOM-B application status:"Your file will be re-reviewed by the Admissions Committee in 60 days." I did call on Friday asking the status of my application because it was taking awhile. Do you think they would put me in the penalty box?

I'm confused because I have an interview scheduled with LECOM Erie.

I am in the exact same situation. Got the "60 days" status from LECOM-B and an interview for LECOM-E. I dunno. I'm guessing they might be waiting for my summer transcripts to update.

Two questions.
1) How are you guys getting from the hotel to the school?

2) Anyone going to the 10/21 interviews?

What do you guys know about the accelerated primary care pathway? I saw on LECOM's website that you can graduate in 3 years rather than 4 if you plan on doing primary care. That sounds really awesome.

Hey all, I have been reading these postings for a while, but finally decided to participate. I interviewed there on Friday (8/26). Anyone else? For those of you that have interviewed at LECOM-erie, what did the students you spoke with during lunch have to say about the school? Were they happy with thier choice/the quality of education/the area? I really liked the day, but recieved negative feedback from the student I spoke with during lunch. I hope he was just having a bad day!

I spoke with three students who were in LBL, PBL and Independent (Directed) pathways at lunch on the interview day, and they all like their pathways very much. They seemed satisfied with the education they are getting. One student said LECOM is big on the students' COMPLEX performance and they do their best to help the students out. I didn't hear anything negative about the school.

Awesome, I was hoping I just got a grumpy student. I care more about education/good rotation hospitals/board scores then some of the stuff he was complaining about (such as dress code, badges, places to eat, and the gym hours), so I tried to take everything he was saying lightly.
