I was looking into joining probably the army. I am currently in a surgical residency.

How do they work sending you to basic training during your residency?

I was looking at the financial assistance program and see they pay you a stipend of ~22k + 1200/month if you join. PLUS residency pay. Doesnt seem like too bad of a deal?

any comments

ESU_MD,

Most likely, you would not attend officer basic course until you completed your residency and came on full active duty. When I did my officer basic course, there was a radiologist in my class that went through the same program you describe. He had just finished residency, and then reported as a staff radiologist once OBC was done.
