I have submitted the Supplemental Application for LECOM a week ago but still cannot see the status of my application. My credit card also has yet to be charged. Anyone else got past this point? I am worried because the LECOM website says to finish the Supplemental Application as fast as possible and when I checked the status of my Supplemental Application it looked blank. Where is everyone else at with LECOM?

I know that since it is a new dental school there will be bumps in the road. Thoughts?

I had this issue too. I think that there is literally only one person processing all of the applications. We just have to be patient and see what happens. Let me know if/when you hear something! :)

It's funny.... I emailed them an hour asking them about the same thing... then I found your post! :p I'm making a good guess that we just have to be patient :) I'll let you all know if they respond back :)

Yup! It was through email :) They said they keep in contact with applicants through email.

And they said they accidentally created TWO accounts for me... so that is why my secondary application hasn't been processed and will be delayed :thumbdown They just merged the two accounts together. Hopefully all goes well and they will get my things done soon :)

Definitely contact them about this if you haven't received a secondary application yet :) They are pretty helpful.

I filled out the supplemental on 29Jun and received an verification email on that day. On 08Jul, the "Admissions Status" section was updated for me. It just updated "Required Letters and Credits - View Folder Items" section for me yesterday 14Jul. For some people it has been a little faster. Hope it helps. Good luck!

LECOM supplementary is nice and short :) Not sure about your the DAT question though. I would call the school directly and ask :)

The supplemental application is super short. It has a yes/no question regarding criminal background. If yes then explain....there is also a question regarding LOR and waiving your right to access to references. So two quick questions and then pay the $50 fee and thats about it. It took a little over a week from the time they received my supplemental application for them to update the required letters section. Like Nguyen said....they said that will start sending out interview invites in the next 2-3 weeks.:xf:

I didn't send an official DAT score report. They said the DAT score report on AADSAS is fine.

I had to contact them a few weeks back because there was a mix-up with my app and they said they didn't receive my DAT score so I had to call and sort it out. I used the (941)756-0690 number and she asked what program I was applying to and then redirected me to the dental admission department. They were pretty helpful so definitely call if you have any questions.

I doubt it. My committee hasn't submitted their letter to AADSAS yet, but I still got the supplemental application/fee email. They are probably just swamped.

That doesn't look good. Someone else said they were asked to send their MCAT scores. I'm sure it's an error - they've been making a lot of those (Forgive them, they are still new). Don't worry too much, just give them a call.

Just called and learned that they don't accept international students, so this is the reason why you may no longer be qualified. Unfortunately, they don't put it on their website. Which I think sucks because I could have saved $75 and applied elsewhere.

Actually it says this right on the website under the page with the pre-requisites. "The LECOM School of Dental Medicine only accepts applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents."

I would just call and notify them. I am finishing up orgo lab this summer and they said to just send them a transcript when I receive my grade for the course.

The last email I received before the interview offer stated that they processed my supplemental application. I would call monday and ask about your application...they are extremely helpful and can answer whatever questions you have about your application/app process. You had your stuff in pretty early so Im sure you will hear something anytime now.

The email said "with a pool of over 1600 applicants, we find it quite challenging to select whom we should invite for our 300 interview appointments." For the day of the interview...they said everything should end around 130 so I got a flight that leaves later that night. There was a flight around 4 but I would rather not rush so I choose the one that leaves around 8. What day did they assign you?

Wow $865...that's ridiculous. Yeah just fly into Tampa...one of the attachments they sent you in the email should have a list of shuttle and taxi services that are available. Looks like it will cost you $75 to get from Tampa to lecom. As for the interview...I really dont know what to expect. I can fill you in once I am done...mine is 8/31.

Same thing here. Kind of annoying. Was one of my top choices, and I feel like my stats were extremely competitive. I know a guy who they didn't reject. I'm also annoyed because they didn't even wait on my letters. But oh well, moving on I suppose.

Damn sorry to hear that...for me I figured it was my low gpa but if you had great stats and you were in the process of completing your app and got a rejection then thats pretty bad on their part. The least they could do is wait for all your materials before making a decision but hey keep your head up there are many other schools that would love to have you :)

Sorry, I didn't talk to them about it... butttt on there website it says: "To be considered for admission, scores on Academic Average, Total Science, Reading Comprehension and Perceptual Ability must be 17 or higher." I don't know how strict they are with this requirement, so I would definitely give them a call and ask them about it :) Good luck!! :)

16 PAT -> They are going to put ur application on hold until you give them your new scores. If you dont give them your new DAT scores, you get rejected.

I had one class worth 5 cr and will be taking another one this fall, so after I talked to them my app is finally going to review. Wish I would have caught this sooner. They won't look at you until you have the credits planned for? Yikes! I called them today and they just said to shoot them an email with what I was planning on taking.

When speaking with a recruiter from LECOM last Spring, he explained that in the first few years of the dental school, the dental students would be taking classes together with the Med students (for the 1st two years).

That would be an interesting dynamic.

Anyone have any thoughts on the pros or cons of this unique set-up?

But actually I think 600 sounds about right. I know that MWU-AZ interviewed 570 and accepted 213 for 112 seats for the 2009 entering class. LECOM will probably do something similar :)

Yeah now that you mention that my first guess is probably closer. I'm assuming they will accept a few more than Midwestern does being a new school in all. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Did everybody's admission status go blank once they confirmed?

After I emailed them confirming I will attending the interview, my status went blank on the portal page as well.

If its truly 300 that get interviewed for 100 seats, the chances are not bad at all!

I received the interview invite on a Friday and sent a confirmation email the next day. They emailed me back the following Monday saying they received my confirmation email so give it a day or so.

I'm officially flying into Tampa because flying into Sarasota costs an arm and a leg :) But I'm renting a car and driving to Bradenton. I feel like taking a shuttle is unreliable. I want to be sure I will arrive to my designations on time and in one piece :D Good luck on your interview as well! :)

Congrats on getting an interview!! For me, flying into Sarasota is cheaper so I guess I lucked out. Also, I was thinking about renting a car to get a better look at the area. I am excited to see what the school/area has to offer.

Same here. Hotel and round trip for $340. I will probably rent a car too since I will be down there an extra day. Time to get fitted for a suit I guess...:banana:

how long did it take you guys to find out about an interview after you submitted your supplemental apps?

So now that we have had our interviews, what do you all think? With only 300 interviews, how many offers do you think will be given. I know they said 100 on the 1st, but how many do you think it will actually take to fill the class?

There are 336 pre-dec interviews. Not sure how many interviews total though :confused: I'm guessing 500

Anyhow, I think it'll take around 200 offers :)

EDIT: Actually, I changed my mind. It'll probably take 250.

lol well, I'm not 100% sure but I used math.

- There are 14 weeks from Aug. 31 to the end of November
- Only 1 interview day per week (every Wednesday)
- 24 applicants per interview day

14 x 24 x 1 = 336 interviews for pre-dec

Good point. Someone also said there were going to be 360ish pre-dec interviews earlier in the cycle lol. I'm sure everyone who isn't offered a spot on the 1st will be on the waiting list, which will probably move fast. I wonder how many will go to the post-dec interview if they already have an offer.

I agree with you, I believe they will not really 'reject' anyone who interviewed. They will be placed on the wait-list and then they will picked off from that list after Dec. because I'm assuming many people who are accepted at other schools Dec. 1 won't be attending post-dec interviews.

Do you know if they are going to time their acceptance letters to be received on Dec. 1? Or do they send the letter on Dec. 1 so we will receive it 3-6 days later (around Dec. 7)? OR do you know if we can call them to check our status after Dec. 1?

I was just going to ask you the same question lol. I would expect them to at least try and time it, but who knows. As for calling, I probably wont be able hold myself back if the mail lady doesn't give me the goods around noon. My roommate is waiting for his Madison acceptance too, which should arrive the same week, so we are both excited/freaking out. Knock on wood, cross the fingers and pray for the good news.

Haha. Well, I know some schools strictly tell applicants NOT to call in Dec. 1. But I actually just sent LECOM an email and asked if it would be acceptable to call in and check our admission status after Dec. 1. I will let you know when they respond! lol

I keep thinking my interview went well but my stats will hold me back. If Dr. Curd is on the adcom I think I might be ok. I know the DO students called in so I would assume we would be able to as well. I mean they were thinking about calling us.

I feel that way sometimes too about myself. But they granted you an interview, so you are impressive enough on paper :) DAT is awesome too. Keep your head up :)

Yeah, Stephanie? I think her name was really wanted to make the 100 calls but I guess that's not happening anymore. Hopefully they focus more on the DAT than the gpa lol. And the fact that I basically said accept me so I can get out of Wisco and move to sunny Florida lol.

Hey when I interviewed at LECOM, I was told that the assistant admissions director will call students on December 1st to notify acceptances. It's not set in stone, but they said there were thinking about that. :D

Just wanted to let everyone know that it's official that she will be calling acceptances on Dec. 1! :) If you call in on Dec. 1, no one will be picking up. For those who interviewed, if you don't hear on Dec.1, you will definitely hear from them by the end of January.

I'm thinking our odds would be not bad :) I'm assuming the wait-list would move faster than most schools because LECOM is a new school. Nonetheless, being accepted on Dec. 1, January, or even May... I'd be happy either way!

I've been reading the DO and Pharm threads and it seems they value high mcat/pcat over gpa. However, they didn't start to take ppl off the list until they were finished with interviews. So it could be a long wait if placed on the WL.

Hmm... is the dental program admissions run by the same people???
I was wondering if you think the admissions would pass over those with super high stats because they'd most likely get into a well established school and not choose LECOM... and then maybe accept those with mediocre stats (such as myself :xf: lol)

If I were them, I would try and get the super high stat people that expressed interest in the program with the first 100 then fill in the gaps. Although they did seem to pass up on some med students who had stats that were more typical of a MD program, so you may be right. There are a lot of high caliber students, including yourself, that interviewed there based on predents who have multiple interviews and not too many with similar stats to mine. I've expressed interest so it will be interesting to see how things play out. I'd like to get that Dec. 1st phone call but I'd be happy with a call a few weeks later as well.

I'm so anxious that I've been thinking too much. lol. On predents, there are 65 pre-dec interviews... 3 of them withdrew their application post-interview. So, it's down to 62 pre-dec predents applicants. It would be cool if all 62 from predents were accepted to LECOM on Dec. 1, and the other 38 were not on predents :D

That makes two of us! I know there is another individual who withdrew but its not on predents so its down to 61! Who knows how many more there are out there.

So technically, we can subtract those withdrawing individuals from the pre-dec. interview pool. :p

The pre-dec acceptance rate is slowly increasing! :D

Group interview, very laid back, very nice interviewers. Be yourself, but be sure to participate :) It'll be a relaxing day. I was impressed.

Thanks NguyenDDS, that helps calm my nerves a little. My interview is still 5-6 weeks away and I'm trying to prepare with any information I have, So I definitely appreciate your words of wisdom :)

Also, know why you would do well in PBL and why LECOM and why dentistry. Pretty standard questions and I enjoyed the group interview. They basically ask a question to everyone and someone starts talking and you can go from there.

I wouldn't think they would get that personal as it is a group interview. However, they will followup with another "personal" question based on your previous response. For example, they might followup by asking something like: "tell me how your observing or volunteering experience reinforced your decision to pursue dentistry."

WL= waiting list. Also, I was bumming around on the portal looking for any "clues" and looked at the supplemental app. Mine isn't complete, but I have a supplemental complete email with my receipt. I entered my ss #, gender, ethnicity, clicked no, signed and dated my name and when I click continue, it wants me to pay again lol. I guess I have a legit question to call about.

There's always a chance :) They most likely won't stop interviewing until April/May. Long way to go.
