Hello step199!

Focus is often an issue when confronting a challenge such as the USMLE! A few questions:

Does your study plan incorporate plenty of breaks? We recommend studying for about 1.5 hours, then taking at least a 15 minute break. Get up, move around, leaf through a magazine, splash some water on your face, etc. Also, do not study more than 8-10 hours a day. This will allow you to assimilate the information and stay on schedule.

Are tasks broken down into easily digestible tasks? When feeling overwhelmed, make sure your approach is in small steps. With one foot in front of the other, you are more likely to attack each task w/ focus and you'll see progress. The more progress you see, the more motivated you will feel.

If you are suffering from anxiety, try meditation, positive thinking, remembering past accomplishments, plenty of exercise. Sometimes anxiety disguises itself in procrastination!
